The locking wheel prong broke which enabled any cat to come so the first night I had to sellotape the door shut. I emailed Sureflap that evening & got an automated reply. It didn't stop there cos I got another email the next morning asking me for serial no and address & they were going to send replacement free. Sure enough, the next day I received it in the post. Wow! Never had such good service, excellent. I've been very pleased with cat flap, does exactly what it says on the 'tin.'
Great unit, great customer support
We have had our sure flap for about two years. Before that we had a petporte but it just never seemed to work properly. The sure flap works unflinchingly and has done since installation. Our cats trust this one.. I thoroughly recommend sure flap. Also their customer support is nothing short of superb.

I’d like someone to explain to me what good it is for me that the feeder only opens with a microchip if it DOESN’T CLOSE WHEN THE CAT LEAVES. The other cats have plenty of time to come and eat, and if there’s another cat eating—even if it’s not the one with the registered chip—it DOESN’T CLOSE. I guess it’s 'for safety', but honestly, the speed and force with which it closes doesn’t seem like it could hurt any cat. In the end, it doesn’t really fulfil its purpose properly.

Too cramped for the cat to eat from
The big obstacles in the bowl are too large, the cat can't even try to eat directly so it all just ends up with her using her paws to get the food out. Doesn't feel like that's the intention.
Also, the bowl is light in weight and with just a bit of food, the cat sometimes grabs the rubber strip and then the whole bowl moves out of place.
Another problem is that the cat opens the SureFeed machine, but when she backs away and uses her paws instead, the SureFeed closes because the ID chip gets too far from the sensor in the SureFeed.

It's okay, but pricey for what you get
I've had the feeder for quite a while now, and I'm pretty happy with it, but for the price you wouldn't expect teething problems, yet there are a few:
- Setting it up is tricky because sometimes the feeder doesn't immediately register the chip
- The feeder doesn't always open when the cat puts its head under the sensor
- Mould: If the food isn't eaten straight away, moisture gets in because the lid is closed, and this causes the rubber to go mouldy. Even if you clean the bowls every day.
- Fast cats also get to eat, as the flap stays open

both the lifespan of the container and the batteries is completely wrong
I've had the feeder for 2 years now... They say with Duracell the batteries last 6 months, but honestly it's more like 3 months. And the feeder is supposed to last 6 years, but in reality it's more like 2 years because the motor has already broken down.
Also, it's really inconvenient for a Maine Coon to eat from it because the arch gets in the way a lot.
So if you're still considering buying it... DON'T do it if you have a large cat.

Serves its purpose, everything else is disappointing
I've been using the machines for 3 months now. The bowls are too deep and the divided one (which I unfortunately need) is way too small. Food thief – NO MORE!
