SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder

How can anyone give this product a good review? The overhead sensor is very low and the cat is extremely reluctant to stick its head in far enough to activate it.After three months of training, with the lid fully closed the cat will still not put its head in far enough to open this up. I have been using it with the lid half closed, which doesn't keep the other cat out, but now the lid sticks in the open position whenever it is activated. I don't think the designer has ever owned a cat.

What a waste of money! I bought this for one of my cats. brother always steals her food, this bowl didn’t help one bit. The food is completely accessible from the back, the other cat went for the food instantly and the bowl didn’t even close. The cat registered wasn’t even close to the bowl after being pushed away and it still didn’t close. What a failure it was for 142€. And it doesn’t even come with batteries.

The big obstacles in the bowl are too large, the cat can't even try to eat directly so it all just ends up with her using her paws to get the food out. Doesn't feel like that's the intention. Also, the bowl is light in weight and with just a bit of food, the cat sometimes grabs the rubber strip and then the whole bowl moves out of place. Another problem is that the cat opens the SureFeed machine, but when she backs away and uses her paws instead, the SureFeed closes because the ID chip gets too far from the sensor in the SureFeed.

I bought 3 of them. After 2 years, all 3 broke on me... €240 down the drain. And the warranty, well, doesn't work... because I didn't know you have to register with Petscare using the number on the box.

The cat with severe IBD and therefore on a special diet just manages to break into the SureFeed. It was already secured with an extra lid. I was suspicious and set up a camera, and it was clearly visible that he could still steal some kibble. As a result, another serious intestinal inflammation and again a lot of money spent at the vet. The idea is nice, but unfortunately it's not suitable when a cat really can't have any other food.

I've had the feeder for 2 years now... They say with Duracell the batteries last 6 months, but honestly it's more like 3 months. And the feeder is supposed to last 6 years, but in reality it's more like 2 years because the motor has already broken down. Also, it's really inconvenient for a Maine Coon to eat from it because the arch gets in the way a lot. So if you're still considering buying it... DON'T do it if you have a large cat.

Cleaning is a nightmare, there's mould and you can't remove the side windows either. I paid 170 CHF for it, and it's definitely not worth it.

Plastic nightmare with completely unsuitable bowls. Constantly breaking and unreliable.

Terrible product. While struggling to get my cat used to it, I realised that the mechanism didn’t close when the other cat arrived. Customer service suggested a reset, but it didn’t work. In the end, I never used it because it didn’t work, no refund, no help with exchanging the product. Over €100 down the drain.

I thought it was a microchip-activated bowl, to stop the cats from swapping bowls... But in the end, the bowl opens as soon as it detects any movement passing by.

I have two cats, so I bought two of these feeders (with chip). They work perfectly fine in that regard. But the plastic/rubber bowls cause skin irritations and my cats won’t eat the food anymore. Also, the lids never close completely. Cleaning is incredibly time-consuming, especially with wet food, which really defeats the purpose of making things “easier”.

My mum bought some Surefeed bowls like this one about a month ago. 1. These bowls apparently have a known issue with the automatic lid mechanism. She had this problem with 3 out of 4 bowls in total. 2. She paid around €110 per bowl, had one bowl replaced twice, and she’s sending them all back for good this week. I’m especially shocked, given all the problems with these bowls, that the price has actually gone up. And by €40, no less! It’s disgraceful!

I've already had to reorder the stainless steel bowls for the third time in a short period. Even though I only wash them by hand, the rubber seals break quickly! Other than that, I'm happy with the machine – it's really durable!

A cat from outside pulls the flap to the side with its claws to open it and slips into the house. It has damaged the felt around the cat door. Problem with no solution!..

The stainless steel bowls don’t live up to their promises at all. After a very short time, the edges—which are supposed to keep the food fresh and airtight—start coming apart, tearing, or even coming off the rim of the bowl completely. And I haven’t even put them in the dishwasher; I always wash them by hand. This has happened to me for the second time now. The quality is really poor. I’m very disappointed.

Since the first machine developed a technical life of its own after just 7 months (blinking, randomly opening and closing the flap), I urgently needed a replacement. The product box already showed signs of use inside in one spot. The device itself did too, as it had dirt (probably from food, among other things) and was obviously already used. At this price and for hygiene reasons, I expect a new device. That's why 1 star.

Everything seemed to be going well, but I've been using it for just a month and it already doesn't work. The lid popped open and won't close again. Now I have to figure out how to fix it.

The cat flap only worked for a couple of weeks before it stopped reading the chip. We've had the chip checked by the vet and it's sitting perfectly readable in the cat's neck. We've also changed the batteries, but that didn't help. This is the second cat flap we've had that has stopped working.
