PetSafe Microchip Cat Flap

Changed the battery as a precaution, it flashes red and gets stuck unlocked.

We ordered a cat flap and installed it according to the instructions. The chip is detected and the flap’s indicator lights up green, but it still doesn’t open when the cat tries to go through. We tried adding an adapter as that was supposed to fix the problem, but it didn’t help. Now the neighbour’s cat has moved in as well, since we have to leave the flap on default open…

Bought new, and right from installation, there was no way to activate it. Both of my cats' chips are connected and recognised by the cat flap, but it refuses to open. The pins blocking the door from outside to inside don't lower, so it's useless. The only solution: leave it completely open, which basically turns it into a regular cat flap that doesn't filter any animals, making it a very expensive option for what it does.

The opening time is too long, which lets other cats come inside as well. Even after six months, my cat is only detected once after programming the chip. After that, not anymore. So, poor quality.

The batteries run out super quickly (even branded ones) and now it doesn't work at all after just one year! And this is the second one! Avoid this model.

Doesn't work anymore, only opens the door once out of 20 times. The device is still under warranty but the Zooplus website is holding things up and not honouring the warranty. I am very dissatisfied. In the middle of a heatwave, my pets are stuck outside!

The system works maybe one time out of twenty, so our cat can’t get out and we’re even worried that the entry system, which is working for now, might stop working too. I really don’t recommend it at all!

I ordered the cat flap along with the recommended tags, supposedly often bought together. After trying to register the tags, I contacted customer service who told me the products weren’t compatible because they’re from different brands! And they don’t sell compatible tags… nor a cat flap that works with the tags…

The cat flap detects the microchip when my cat comes near, but it doesn’t unlock. Very disappointed with this purchase.

It’s terrible. The microchip function is useless because the pins that are supposed to lock it don’t actually lock properly. Even when it’s fully locked, my cat can still force it open. So now I’m stuck with an ordinary cat flap in my door.

After two days, it stopped working in connected mode and I couldn’t get it back to non-connected mode. The red light comes on and then blinks, but the locks don’t go down. I had to stick some tape on the locks. So now it works like a regular cat flap. Zooplus refunded me but couldn’t offer a replacement (model out of stock).

For the past two years, we've had visits from a neighbour's cat, whose owner we don't know, coming in through the cat flap without any trouble. We even changed the cat flap, but it made no difference. This cat is also microchipped, and we suspect its chip ID is very similar to our own cat's. We're even wondering if we should change our pet's microchip. Unbelievable.
