Been using for 5 years, selected favourite after much trial and error. However The formula seems to have changed and it is no longer clumping as before. Please change it back!

I have two large cats, one elderly who pees a lot and this is the best litter I have tried so far, it doesn't smell and the last bag I had lasted 4 1/2 weeks. As with the clumping I found it depends on two things, the style of the cat pee (yes there really is one) and how much litter is left in the tray. Both my cats leave different shaped clumps the elderly a cone shape the younger a pancake. If the litter is nearly used it doesn't clump so well so I know its time to change it, easy.

I didn't realise that this is essentially a wood pellet type litter (should have checked and not relied on the 'plant fibres' description). I used wood pellets in the past, this brand does not clump very well (wood pellets don't tend to) and you end up shovelling out 'clean' litter when you're clearing out. It also comes in a large sack which was so heavy I couldn't lift it. I wouldn't buy again. But if you like wood pellet type litter, you'll like this.

There's very little tracking and dust, but extremely poor odor control. We have to change the litter very frequently and it doesn't clump that well so it's hard to scoop.

We have been using cats best for over 10 years now and usually go for the oeko plus; since our new kitten has long fur we thought we give the nature gold a go, but it is not worth the extra money. You will use up more because it does not clump as well and the thicker granulates do not fit though the holes in the scoop. Cats best is great, but the oeko plus is our preferred option.

I agree with other reviewers in that it handles the smell well, there is very little tracking/dust, and it does not stick to fur. However, with a normal scoop, it is hard to separate the soiled bits from the clean ones. And the clumps break easily apart leaving soiled bits behind that can be hard to see. I have only been using it a few days and in only 1 tray, and have throw a lot of good litter away, which is a shame (and expensive!).

This is the best cat litter I have ever used and now always buy it. It is easy to deal with and to dispose (down the toilet). Highly recommended and Zooplus always has it at a good price.

Having always used budget litters in the past, they came with odour, dust and tracking that became so hard to tidy properly even with frequent vacuuming. This product was recommended and it is a breath of fresh air literally, keeping smell at bay and virtually no mess- the fact it goes straight in the toilet is an added bonus. Overall a brilliant product!!

After having tried clay, clumping, non clumping, silicone and wood non clumping litter, it is my opinion that this is the best choice. It performs well in all areas. Excellent absorbing and clumping action; the litter tray remains dry even if very little litter is left on the bottom. Excellent odour control; you only smell the pine. Minimum tracking; none of it exits the litter tray room and it doesn't crumble like the non-clumping version. Sure, I'd love it to be cheaper but we can't have it all in this life :)

We have tried a lot of different brands but this one is the best! We use it now for the last 4.5 years and I would not change it. It works well with our 2 cats 1 short hair & 1 long hair. It has very little to none tracking, clumps well the key is do not scoop wee right away but wait a little. You can flush it down the toilet so no stinky poo in the bin. :-) it's economical, ecological, and no dust at all - great for our cats and us. Our cats used to be covered in the dust & sneezed a lot with other types of litter but not with this one. It's a winner for us!

Looking for a flushable and compostable cat litter and reading the good reviews decided to try Cat's Best Öko Plus. The only disappointment was the tracking, especially as it stuck on the furry paws and tail of the long haired cat and spread around the house even with a tracking mat. Next up was to try the pelleted version. It doesn't track much but the downside is that is doesn't clump as well. The solution is to use the pellets as a top layer. It's cheaper that way too. Wouldn't buy any other litter ever again. It lasts ages, no smelly bins full of heavy clay, no landfill and 2 happy kitties… and a happy owner.

We have used this litter for some time now and all four of our Birman cats seemed to like it. They even used it in preference to the garden! It is very absorbant and no matter what is left in the litter tray the smells seem to remain there. We have to rely on visual checks, rather than anything else. It is easy to clean up as it clumps well and there is little evidence of it being trailed around the house, even with the furry feet of the Birman.

I have two Persians, and have tried absolutely EVERYTHING else that there is to try, nothing else comes close to this. Both my Cats are indoor Cats and without this then smell would be unbearable, but instead, other people do not smell anything when they enter the house, and are very surprised that they are indoor cats using a litter tray. It doesn't track either. Dont waste your money on anything else.

This litter is excellent. Hardly any mess, clumps well and for a multi cat household it is brilliant. I tried the oko plus which was good but very messy with litter being tracked everywhere. This is as good but without the tracking. The only downside is the price. Much more expensive than the oko plus which is always the same when you find something that works.

This litter is the best i have ever used for my cats , no smell at all, does not tread everywhere.....amazing long lasting .....recommend ++++

We tried a few different litters but our cats like this the best. It keeps odors to a minimum and being able to flush small amounts down the loo is so convenient, especially for city dwellers. It does track a little, but much less than other varities we tried.

Our cats have been using this for over a year now and it really is the best cat litter you can get. We tried many other products before finding this one and will not be going back.

My persian 'tracked' the ordinary cat litter around my house, I used to find it everywhere! Since I used this I would never go back. It doesnt track and he seems to like it too. Flushes down the loo easily too. Great product!!

I switched over to Nature Gold from Catsan Hygiene as it seemed kitties don't like the idea of wee staying in their box! Haven't had any accidents in the house since switching and it's great not having to do a complete litter change twice a week. I have , however, had to purchase a big Catit litter scoop as the clumps are absolutely huge! Shame as I think a lot of litter is wasted due to the size of the clumps. The clumps seem to crumble a bit sometimes as well. The odour control isn't as good as Catsan Hygiene, but a few strategically placed Neutradol room fresheners seems to have done the trick!

I've been using this litter for over 3 years, and this year, 2026, it's the fourth time I've come across 20L bags that don't clump at all and just turn completely crumbly and dusty. As a result, I have to remove double or even triple the amount of litter. Even though it's basically a great litter that I can only recommend, I'm disappointed by the quality issue I've encountered several times this year, which leads to extra costs that really shouldn't happen!

I switched from clumping litter to pellets a few years ago and never looked back. Pros: Creates less waste. Doesn’t form that hard-to-clean "mud" in the corners of the box like litter does. The smell of pee is much less noticeable! Cons: When they poop, the smell is more noticeable. But it’s just a matter of... cleaning. Similarities: It also clumps. Differences: It’s better to use a scoop with slightly larger holes so the pellets can pass through.

After my last order, the litter has changed in both appearance and behaviour. The pellets are thinner and longer, and look drier, which means they don’t work as well with urine and poo. The litter doesn’t clump as well as it used to. The clumps break apart when scooping, and the smell of urine and poo is stronger. It doesn’t hold in the odours as much. Honestly, I’m wondering if I’ll keep using this brand.

The quality of the litter has dropped a lot. It doesn't clump well. The urine goes straight to the bottom of the tray and sticks to it. The clumps break up into small pieces, which makes it hard to pick up the tiny granules during daily cleaning. After two days, you have to change all of it because it smells terrible. I thought I just got a bad batch, but for the past few months, every one has been worse than the last.

I switched from the regular Cats Best to this litter and I have to say, I don't understand the negative reviews. It mostly clumps well, doesn't smell, doesn't create dust, and hardly spreads around the area. My cats like using it and it's easy to keep the litter boxes clean with it. I’m taking off one point because after longer use it gets a bit crumbly and the clumps fall apart. Still, all in all, it's a good product and I can recommend it.

After trying out some cheaper products that created a lot of dust, I am extremely impressed with this product. No dust, my cat doesn’t drag the pellets all over the flat, and she’s happy. Of course, you use more of this than with the cheaper products, but my cat’s health and my own are more important to me. Before, I always had to wear a face mask when cleaning the litter box.

I spent a long time looking for litter that doesn’t create dust because my tomcat takes his time and covers everything thoroughly, which always left dust everywhere, and he used to spread a lot of it around the flat. That’s finally over now. My cat is happy with Best Cats Smart and so am I. It doesn’t create dust, it clumps well, sometimes small bits break off when cleaning but that’s fine, it doesn’t smell, and what he drags out of the litter box is minimal. We’re completely satisfied—after trying many other litters, this is the best!

My cats love it and so do I. There's no smell, hardly anything gets tracked out, and if necessary, you can even flush it down the toilet.

I've been buying these pellets for a long time because they're nice and big and don't create much dust. But in the last few packs, there were loads of small bits and a lot of dust. I definitely ordered the pellets, but you wouldn't really notice that anymore.

I've been buying this litter for almost 20 years, and in the early years it was really great. Hardly any dust (there's no such thing as a completely dust-free litter), nice solid pellets, but then it got worse and worse every year and also kept getting more expensive. That's it for me now. In the meantime, there's a great alternative available here on Zooplus as well.

Tried a smaller pack for the move (usually I use Original 40l) – it worked pretty well! 20l was just enough for a big box, and we'll see how quickly it gets used up. It definitely packs well, but as a result, you use more than with Original, though there's clearly less dust and spreading. I can't say yet if I'll order another one or not. The cat likes it, my cat is happy to go in soil outside or in bentonite. Maybe this is nicer for him since it's harder than Original.

Very good litter, I have two cats and there’s no smell. It stays compact, which means I have less litter scattered around the tray.

I've been using Cat's Best litter for years, but unfortunately the quality has really gone downhill. First with the original (red bag) – it creates a lot of dust, which makes it unusable for a cat with asthma. The pellet version doesn't produce dust, but the clumps fall apart when you try to remove them. This means you end up using a lot more, since you have to fish out all the broken clumps. Plus, the pellets get tracked all the way into the hallway. Once I've finished my last bag, I'll be switching to a different litter.

Ordered a 20-litre bag but what's shown on the bag is 10kg, which is strange. Unfortunately, my kittens didn't like this litter because they were used to mineral litter.

There's no cat pee smell, but the cats track it all over the flat because it sticks to their fur. The pee falls apart or can be scratched apart really, really easily, so it's not hygienic. Because of this, it's very hard to clean.

I switched from CatsBest Original to CatsBest Smart Pellets because my 4 Maine Coons would spread the Original all over the house. Also, I find the Original creates a lot of dust. The pellets are spread less around the house, which I like. But it's very expensive.

I've used this product for several years. I really appreciate that you can flush it down the toilet and that it smells fresh and woody even though it's not perfumed.
