Cat's Best Original Cat litter

After reading all these reviews (which were a mixture of good and bad) and looking for a litter that wasn't clay based (used 'Litter Purrfect' from cost co. for last 4 years) we decided to give this one a try.. sadly disappointed with the results. with our old litter we used to find bits over the kitchen floor and sometimes on work units..but this ended up everywhere..and I mean everywhere! even upstairs! (we can only think it's because they're long haired maine coons) the clumps crumble when you're trying to shake the unused bits from the scoop and it doesn't disguise the smell neither. So if you have 1 or 2 short haired cats this may be suitable for you, but we will definately be going back to our old litter which is excellent at clumping and disguising the smell. Mental note to self..don't keep trying different litters because I don't think we'll find one better than litter purrfect!

I've been using this litter for over a year now, but I'm back to looking for something better. The main thing for me is the lack of odour control, especially after "big business". Also, the clumps are not very tight and sometimes crumble, and stick quite a lot to the bottom. This, I believe, is why the litter box starts smelling after a week at the latest, despite regular scooping: some of the soiled litter always stays behind. Considering the frequent complete litter replacement, it's actually quite expensive. Minor complaints are the dust (not too bad) and tracking (quite bad). Having said all this, I have yet to find something better (have tried and rejected silicate granules and regular betonite clumping litter). Next on the list to try is Porta Pine...

After being very happy with the classic clumping litter i wanted to try this one as the other is very dusty however i was not prepared for the mess it's been causing it's everywhere my cat's are not great diggers but this litter dosent suit us, i find it really hard to get the clumps out and i can still smell the litter odores good for new kittens but not for long term use,

It covers smells really well; Makes firm clumps, easy to remove from the litter; It's gentle on the paws, soft, my tomcat liked digging in it. The biggest downside, and the reason I'll stop using it, is that it leaves a lot of dust. My cat has respiratory issues, which came back shortly after I started using this litter. The dust bothered me too, so I had to wear a mask when cleaning/changing it; Another downside is that it spreads easily all over the house.

The litter is dusty but not excessively so, the cat didn’t like it and preferred to do her business next to it. It clumps, but don’t expect super solid balls. The odour control is also average. This is a mediocre litter, but basically, if your cat accepts it, it’s not bad for the price.

I've been using this for 3 years now. It lasts quite a while, clumps really well, economical to use – I've always been satisfied. But now, after just 2 weeks, there's so much dust and debris at the bottom of the tray, it's not normal. I sifted the trays today.

I won't buy it again because, personally, I don't like the smell. It's very woody, but not like tree-woody? Doesn't really clump well, but it doesn't create dust either, and it does a good job of binding urine smell! I'm sure it works great for others, but it's just not for us.

I've been using it for a long time, but lately the quality has dropped. It's dustier now!

For the past few months, it hasn't been clumping anymore and it's very dusty.

It clumps, but my cat constantly had sticky litter between her toes. I don't like it.

Overall, it's a decent cat litter, but I wanted one that doesn't create dust, and this one is advertised as being almost dust-free. I actually find it quite dusty and not so good for cats.

I was hopeful, but my cats refuse to use it. The foster cats do use it, but only because we switched them over from bentonite pretty quickly—otherwise, they’d prefer that too. It’s less dusty than bentonite, but when I clean the litter, I end up having a coughing fit from the dust that rises. Plus, it makes a terrible mess—the cats track it everywhere. It does clump, but you have to wait for it to set and sift it very gently, or else it falls apart. Because of all this, we’re looking for a different litter.

I've been using this litter for a few years now, and so far it's the best I've found, but its quality is going down. The first ones I bought lasted much longer than the more recent ones. In other words, before I could go much longer without having to change all the litter, but now it turns to dust much faster than before.

Lightweight litter, very absorbent and does a great job masking smells, but it creates loads of dust...

My cats didn't like the product at all. Maybe it's the smell?

I used to be delighted with this litter because it clumped well and produced very little dust. But now the litter ends up all over the house and the pee doesn't clump into balls like it used to—it just falls apart and spreads throughout the litter, which means it starts to smell unbearable much sooner than before... Really disappointing...

After trying out several types of litter, I thought this one might be perfect. Clumping, odour control, biodegradable... everything seemed great, except my cat doesn’t seem to like it. The result: pee on the bed, on clothes, next to the litter box. At some point, these aren’t accidents anymore, but calculated surgical strikes! So now I have to get rid of the remaining 15 kg I bought with so much hope... What a shame!

We’ve been using this litter for a long time and were always happy with it, apart from the bits getting tracked everywhere. Then we tried the Smart Pellets version from Cat’s Best, and it’s much better in direct comparison. One of our cats has finally started digging again—in the past, she’d just jump straight out—and there’s not as much litter being carried out, or at least it’s much easier to sweep up five pellets than loads of tiny crumbs. The original is very fine and dusty, so we’ve switched over now, even though it’s more expensive.

I've been buying this litter for a good 15 years, used it as bedding for rats back in the day, and for the past ten years for my cats’ litter boxes. Lately, I feel like it clumps and absorbs worse, turning into mush instead of clumps. On top of that, it smells bad and doesn’t hold odours as well as it used to.

I use this litter every day; the absorption is decent and the bag is still easy to handle.
