It’s empty in here!
I love and so do my boys, wanted something large enough for my two British Shorthairs and this is perfect. Well worth every penny.
This was a HUGE cat barrel - my male ragdoll is a little lost in the various cubby holes and can happily stretch out in the top bed. He was almost immediately into it, exploring and scratching and woke us up at stupid o-clock this morning, playing happily away. A real hit
I have 14 week old kittens who love it however all 3 balls where off within a week
This is by far the best value cat home / scratching post / play centre ever. I'm 5'7" and the XL one comes up to my midriff (just under bust) it's wide and round and very very sturdily built. The scratching won't affect the look because this thing is built to last. Better than a Barratt home haha! I had this at a reduced price (XL for £54.99) make sure you get it for this price and I promise you, you will be delighted. About my cats? Ah well, they are now in my bed, and I'm curled up in this! J
This large barrel is just what I needed for the two cats I have! We have it at the back door and they love to climb it and sit in it.
This has only just arrived and my cat has yet to discover the scratching side of it (which is why I bought it). However he is sitting in the top enclosed bit so I feel it as a success. Perfect size for my big, long cat!
My cat is always so fussy about beds I buy her, but this has definitely been worth every penny she's in it most nights :-D
Bought this as a scratching post but my two never use if for scratching but love to sit on the top and look out of the window. They don't seem too keen on the lower levels. Bought 6 months ago and looks as good as new, but that's because they don't tend to scratch it I guess.Quite large so be sure you have the space for it!
I have 2 9kg Bengal boys and this is holding up great. Had a conventional cat tree that snapped to pieces. This is sturdy and doesn't move when they jump on and off etc. Also it's huge! I nearly died when it got delivered haha
excellent product! i had two of these a few years ago but the bed on top was not removable which made it impossible to wash, now you can remove the bed and wash it which is much better. i find it very secure but for those who said it wasn't attached very well, you can just get some stick on velcro strips and put it on around the edge. personally i found the amount supplied fine and my cats are very large. much improved with the bed removable.
Amazing cat scratcher , used by Bengal and Ragdoll cats and their kittens . High quality item , will last fo years :)
Our 2 bengals and Persian all love this .... in fact they love it so much I'm having to buy a second to prevent fights .... might even get a third ... Enough said ...
Brought this over a year ago, I have four cat's needed something that would last. Two small lady's & two big male's they all love playing & sleeping in it, scratching it's still going strong well worth the money.
I have two cats, one small thin normal sized, the other fat and barrel-chested. The little one jumps and loves to play, but the fat one has to slowly calculate every jump he makes, and if he thinks that something isn't study enough, he won't go for it. It takes him a long time to trust cat trees, especially if there is jumping involved. But this one is so sturdy that he just leaps up and boom, comfy place to sleep.
I bought this as I was getting a new sofa and my Bengal and Savannah have made a bit of a mess with the old one.. they went to this straight away and dont bother with the furniture any more. They also race for the top spot... I got the black one which fits in the living room well. Overall a good buy
I have four loooong loooong Oriental Shorthairs and they love this thing, both for scratching/stretching purposes and for sleeping in and on. One word of warning, as with ALL cat trees, remove any toys on elastic that it comes with. They can ping back on themselves and trap or choke a cat. Having said that, I'm on my second one of these now (they finally destroyed the sisal on the first, after about a year). It lasts a great deal longer than a regular scratching post (my lot destroy those inside a month), and it's nice and robust - doesn't fall over even when they fling themselves at it. I wouldn't be without one now.
'Large' is implied when one is talking about a Maine Coon, but I happen to have two extra-large Coon specimens. Naturally, I have some difficulty finding cat trees and whatnot that are big and sturdy enough for my boys. This cat-tree-barrel is PERFECT for my Pyggie and Theo. I worried that the cushion on the top would be too small, but I want all other big cat owners to know that our two 20 pound cats use and love this product easily!
Our two 8 month old cats love their scratching barrel. More for sleeping in/on than scratching but they now spend most evenings up their watching what we're up to. V. stable and less obtrusive than some cat trees. Only down is that the dangling fluffy balls in the windows haven't lasted long. One was pulled off completely the other had the furry cover pulled off exposing a bell hanging on elastic so cut it off as could have been swallowing. Third (bottom window) is still attached for now!
A good quality item and very steardy. Larger than I expected; bed at the top fits my large cat perfectly. Soft plush material inside cubby holes. Strong weave externally. Good value for money.
I ordered this for my 2 maincoons they loved it from the moment we opened it, they love to sleeping on it trouble is only one can get on it at a time so the have to take it in turns. Great price and great product.
This is great, especially for multi cat households as there are 4 levels including the bed at the top. I only received this today & all are scratching it, jumping up it, playing with the toys. Don't think twice about treating your cats to this, they will love you!
Excellent product, the only let down for me is that I can only get the Snugglesafe heatpad on the top bed and not also in the three inner sections but other than that this is an excellent product at a very good price.
As soon as this was out the box, boz was in it and wouldn't leave it alone. He loves the 'tunnel' and is always playing with the toys. He has hip dysplacia and finds climbing difficult, so I expected him to just stick with the bottom hole... WRONG, his favourite spot is on the top, leaning down playing with the chicken and annoying Henry. It took a few treats and a bit of catnip to persuade Henry, but he now also won't leave it alone. His favourite pew is in the hole closest to the top, where he can keep a relatively close eye on the more playful boz :) Best purchase I've made in ages and I think it'll last a lot longer than the other posts I've bought. Very sturdy, attractive design, encourages play, big enough holes for large cats and the best bit of all... It's great entertainment for whoever's watching the cats play!
We moved house and her old cat tree had to go in a different corner of the room - our puss took umbridge to this and would not use her old tree After a lot of of research and measuring i bought this one - note it does not come packaged in sections - it comes as-is fully built. It is super sturdy and won't fall over even though its freestanding. holes are good but our cat isn't bothered over them- i hide treats in there instead. Plenty of scratching area to go at and good for them to to stretch
if you can't afford the natural paradise one this is also a great product. would be great for kittens because of the hole between two of the beds so they can bat each other and move through one bed to the other. top bed is comfy and like my NP one they like sleeping on the top
Brilliant product - so many places for the furballs to lounge in and snooze - they love it! It's good and sturdy to withstand some abuse when they have a good scratch on the outside too. A good investment which will stand the test of time.
This scratching barrel is just great. My cats took to it very quickly and the 4 of them almost fight over who gets to go first. The top spot is almost always taken by one of them...The barrel is very stable and doesn't wobble around when the cats climb on top of it. I could tell it was worth buying within 5 minutes!
Really stable and suited to even the smallest of cats. Our 7 week old managed to scale it without problems. The 3 toys are perfect to animate your cat and tempt it to climb and claw and clamour. The fur bit is nice and soft.
I bought this barrel on the 15th of July and I'm very happy with it. Cats large and small have quickly taken to it, climbing, clawing, playing, and snoozing away. Very sturdy too. *****Stars from me :-)
Really fast delivery. Both of my cats love the scratching barrel, can't beat that.
My 2 x 14 week old Maine Coons loved it on sight. If they aren't shinning up it, chasing each other in and out of the caves, or bashing the dangly toys, they are snoozing on the top. It's very heavy duty indeed and I can see it lasting for ages. Not cheap, and I thought hard about purchase, but the multi usage and the fact it is so hardwaring make it an excellent purchase in my opinion.
Having torn and scratched his previous cat tree to a state of total devastation, Elliott Michael took to this scratching barrel immediately. Strong, secure, and made of substantial materials, he wasn't going to ruin this so easily. This is about the best solution to his needs I could ever imagine. He was through it, on top of it, and fast asleep on it all within the first 30 minutes of its arrival. It looks great, it's safe, and I'd certainly recommend!
I bought one of these about 10 years ago and it is still going strong. Had to put a platform on the top though as my tomcat is too big to fit in the top. They all love sitting on the top looking out of the window. Best buy for cats.
I love, love, LOVE this scratching post. I've spent a lot of time (and money) trying to find a post big enough, tall enough and stable enough to accommodate my two big cats (6 year old Hobbes who's 5.5kg and 10 month old Bear who's 4.5kg) Until the barrel came into our house, Hobbes had reverted back to scratching the carpet as he had outgrown my Ancol "Fat Boy" post (still very much in use by Bear and also a great product). Now he can literally hang from the barrel, with all four paws clinging on, without it tipping over. He loves sleeping on the top bed. The barrel is very well made, with comfortable platforms to lie on and a cosy but spacious "cave" to hide in. The toys in all 3 openings are enticing and, as of yet, have withstood the vigorous attention from Bear. The scratching surface, which goes all the way up and around the barrel, is durable and good quality. It's easy to rub cat nip into it to encourage interest when it first arrives. I can't say anything negative about the barrel, I wish I had more space as I'd love to get another, especially as it's great value for money!
Very pleased with our scratching barrel - and yes, it is huge! My 4 ex-large Maine Coons all pile on and into it - it's one of their favourite places to be. Only criticism is that the plush bedding/lining is not removable for washing. Nevertheless, will definitely consider buying another when the time comes.
I have 4 large cats and they all love this barrel very good play value for them too
My two cats absolutely love these! They loved them so much that I bought two- one for each cat. They love sleeping in the top and playing with the toys hung from the 'portholes'. I heartily recommend these. :)
I currently have two cats, a moggy and a Maine Coon kitten with another MC on the way. What can I say?? This is the best purchase I have made for them. In the past none of my cats have ever bothered with cat trees but they LOVE this barrel. Together with the Natural VI tree the cats are never off these. They fight for top spot. Sooo glad with my buys :)
If you're hovering about getting this then let me say that you need to stop hovering and get it. It's one of the best cat trees/scratchers you could invest in regardless of how massive or tiny your bundle of fur is. That aside it lasts well despite suffering the exuberant attentions of my two Norwegian Forest Cats over the past two years. For some reason (apart from the toys) it looks as good as new despite use all day round. I've gotten a second one for upstairs as well. Best sites to place it are near windows or key kitty observation points.
My 2 ragdoll kittens love to play hide n seek in the barrel and snooze on the top deck. Really pleased with this, it's good quality and they use it for scratching and climbing, as well as playing and for somewhere to sleep. Would recommend, good for larger vat breeds too.
I have two norweigian forest cats which are a very large breed, as soon as I pulled this out of the box they knew it was for them, they got straight inside and have really attached to it since. I have a male and a female and the female likes to sit on the top which is about a meter high to be safe from the boy cat (he's bit of a bully). This is by far the best pet product I have ever seen and its value for money is out of this world as I had a much smaller scratch post for £40, but this...wow They love to sleep inside and play with each other. Brilliant Fabulous Fantastic
This has arrived today in readiness for my new little Russian Blue....I am thrilled with it...just hope she will be as pleased , also! It is very sturdy and a good size, I know my previous cat, would have adored it, God Bless her. She used her scratching post every morning until she died, and it was nothing like this!!!Different generation and different facilities!!
My cat loves it! Do not hesitate to buy one, you can't go wrong!
My two Bengals love this! Great value for money.
I have three adult cats and they all took to this straight away. It's very sturdy and looks so much better than traditional cat trees. The top bed is always occupied, one cat gets off, another gets on. They don't use the bottom den but the top den gets used. My cats have never shared beds but are happy to share this. I am going to order a second one! The only negative is that you can't remove the top bed for cleaning.
We received our delivery today and as soon as we unpacked it my cats were all over it. It came already assembled so we literally had to just remove the box! The compartments are great, each has a toy hanging, there's a bed on top also! The bottom compartment and middle one have a hole in between so they can climb around inside from one to the other. The size is great too!! I think for 2 cats it's perfect. There's enough room for them both to play. It's very sturdy too when they are climbing and hanging off it. I recommend this product to anyone who has cats!
this scratching barrel has earned the nickname "the monster" in this house, and it truly is! make sure you get the tape measure out before you buy this item, it lives up to its XXL description. i bought this mostly for its height of scratch area, and my cat who likes vertical scratching is in seventh heaven with this, she can stretch right up to her full height. the large plush platform is my other cats evening roost, he can survey all that goes on in perfect comfort. he is a big cat and there is more than enough room for him. neither of my cats climb the monster or make much use of the hideaways but i am confident that it would be stable enough for the most energetic kitty to do both without it tipping over. i love this product and love the price that zooplus was able to offer it at. well done, cant recommend highly enough.
My cats love this barrel ,gives a lot fun for them and our family .They like to play seek and hide ,up and down and also they adore scratch it ,ofcorse sleeping on the top they like the most.
yes.. very pleased with this smart item... xmas pressie for my 2 cats, one has already proven hard to get out of the lower den as he saw me examining the item wen it arrived.. I like the non fussy, space saving, design; the colours and the multiple-use ...scratchpad, climber, 3 inner dens-cat can climb inside between lowest and middle den-3 toys attached(for a time anyhow lol) and a padded/plush top 'reclining' space which is tall enough to enable cats to gaze out of window. Happy with my choice. Thanx Zooplus for offering this deal...and providing excellent service.
Speedy delivery & has only been out of the box for 10mins before one of my cats started to investigate. Love that it is ready to go - its tall, spacious & sturdy. Both my cats are on the large size - and they fit nicely into the hidey holes. Considering another one already for the bedroom
Bought this scratching barrel for my 2 pussy cats and they love it, especially our timid cat Fudge. She feels safe sleeping on the top padded bed so much she has just tried to push our other cat Raison off who is fast asleep on it. The barrel is very sturdy and the scratching rope around the barrel is very good quality. Going to order another barrel as we have to carry the barrel up and down the stairs every day so the pussy cats can us it during the day and night.
Received this yesterday and when my cats let me get it out of the box they where all over it, sadly the toys only lasted half an hour but still with one in the middle and one upside down in the bottom they love it
Ever since it came my cat has been sleeping on it day in day out. I'd recommend any owner to get one.
Arrived within 2 days of ordering and exactly as described. Absolutely no smell as experienced by a couple of other customers. Height is perfect for cat to lie on top and look out of window. Sits neatly in corner of room behind settee - well worth the £45 paid.
I bought this after reading the reviews and all I can say is, it's brilliant. My two Ragdolls love it. It's sturdy and safe, even with them hanging on to the side, trying to 'kill' the attached toys. If you're after a decent, quality and steady post, then look no further.
I brought two of the Diogenes XXL Scratching Barrels, and my little moggy Wallace loves them both! I must admit to not reading the description in its entirety so the little hanging toys in each of the caves came as a pleasant surprise. It's a very sturdy product, not a single wobble no matter how ferociously Wallace flings himself at it! Even better than Wallace loving it, it came ready assembled and all I had to do was drag it up the stairs! I really cannot recommend this product enough for anyone who wants a stable, decent sized bit of cat furniture.
I bought this a few months back when I got my new Savannah Kitten, she loved it from the start. It looks great in the lounge and doesn't 'shed' any bits as most cat trees seem to do. Recommend it highly
Bought this for my 3 birmans, cats all over it before it was out of the box. Really good value item, its tall enough for them to stretch & scratch, has a really cosy cushioned perch at the top and my very young birman loves the hidey holes to play in. Would recommend this as it is three items in one and it looks nice too.
This is a solid and well constructed barrel - and our 5 month old BSH loves it , using it to scratch as well as to hide and sleep in the compartments. She also loves the top and the cozy bed. I thought the bed at the top might detatch for cleaning and access to compartment below but it doesnt. However at sub £50 it's a superb product that we wouldn't be without😊
Finally !! With the weather turning windier and wetter my two burmese moggie crossies are not getting out so much. They are only 4 and still enjoy a good play and run around. I sometimes work long hours and get a bit concerned that they are getting bored / unfit stuck in the house. I bought them a big expensive 6 ft cat tree and they were, believe it or not, a bit scared of it, wouldn't go near it. It was passed to an aquaintance. I wanted to get something for them to climb and encourage them to play on their own as I sometimes feel that they look to me to waggle sticks, flick paper balls etc which I obviously can't do if I'm not there. Not really wanting to shell out another 170 euros for a big tree I thought I'd give this a go. It was an immediate success. They have never touched a scratching post in their lives. I have sprayed previous posts with catnip cat attract spray and tried everything but they were adamant the only things that would suffice were the furniture and the neighbour's fence. Freddy is a big boy at 6.5kg and he can only just fit in the top coop but fit in it he does, though he prefers to sit on top and survey the neighbours through the window. Wee Ginge goes absolutely berzerk in the top coop fighting with the hanging bird. Then they have a great time pawing at each other from the different levels. They also both love to stretch and scratch on it. If you fling a valerian pillow or catnip toy inside I guarantee your cat / s will have a party in there for about half an hour. This item is also ready to go, absolutely no assembly whatsoever and though is a largish item and solid is not overly heavy. I managed to carry it up to the spare room no problem and it can be easily moved around the room if you desire. The most well received item I have purchased for my kitties in 4 years. The only thing I would say is that it would be even better if a taller model was introduced. Another couple of feet and they would get some great exercise pulling themselves up. Definitely recommend.
No sooner it was out of it's very sturdy packing box my 5 Australian Mists were up it, on it and in it as it didn't need assembling.
Wow, pussy-cat heaven. A place to hide, explore, play, rest and to scratch with my claws to my heart's content. I can perch on the top where there is a comfy sitting area from which I can view the world from on high. Every kitty deserves one of these! And mum says it's great that it doesn't take up too much room and what a great price this was from Zooplus!
My cat loves this tower as the top part is so soft for her to sleep and the edging is soft too so she can rest her chin in comfort. It is a perfect height for looking out of a window while she is resting in comfort. Looks tidy in the house too with its rounded shape. The extra large size is ideal for larger or longer cats. I would definitely only buy this product if I needed another one for somewhere else in the house. Well made too.
We have ten cats, mostly rescued as I help out with fostering! The cats never move out! They all love this, places to snooze, scratch and hide. Previously had the smaller version, this is much better for adult cats as it's taller and wider, might need to buy another.
My kitten absolutely loves this scratching barrel and seems to zoom in and out of all the compartments at 100 miles an hour swatting at the toys that dangle down. He loves to climb to the top and then get comfy on the nice plush bed and look out the window or have a snooze. Brilliant product.
my two cats love it ive had mine for almost two years well used but still looks new, they both sleep in it day and night and love jumping in and out of it and sunbathing by the window in the top bed, so impressed that im thinking of buying another for the bedroom
This is an excellent product. I have Ragdoll cats and they love it. I bought one 2 months ago and bought another one today. My cats are large and can fully explore all the openings and the top is large enough for two at a squeeze. It seems very durable given the scratching use every day. Would recommend this product to all.
my 6 furbabies love it, my english blue Blue is a very large cat and this is the only scratcher i have found that he can fit in! he along with Inka, Callie, Merlin, Loki and Athena all chase each other in n out n all around this excellent product. they love it! i couldnt imagine being without it! 5 stars..a must have for all cats!!!
I've bought the big one first, and my cats were so impressed I bought a further 2 smaller ones, my cats love it, they sleep in it play in it and its so strong I know it will last a long time, these are better then any cat tree I have ever bought, if I could buy another smaller one I would but sadly this item is now sold out.
I bought the smaller one so could not leave a review as it has sold out. But it was that brilliant that i have also bought this one and waiting for it to arrive. I dont know whos more excited the cats or me . Its strong, Sturdy and alot tidier than other posts . I have 15 cats and i also foster and find my posts dont last very long. I may even buy a third one
I bought this for my rescue cat and she loves it. If she is not out or playing with toys then she is asleep on the top. She walks across me on the sofa and climbs straight on. I used to get cuddles before I bought this so beware!
All of my 4 cats love this barrel. My Bengal cross kittens fight on it shooting up, down the barrel and in & out of the holes. My 2 older cats also like to use it as a scratching post and they are notoriously fussy. My 11 year old Russian blue even likes to hide in it. It's a good size so bigger cats can still fit in. The cushion on top is lovely and soft so the kittens like to sleep up there, they also like the dangly toys but one of them was chewed off pretty quickly (the other 2 are still attached though, which is good for them as they are chewers). It also looks very nice like a piece of furniture so could go in any room. I'm very pleased with this purchase and my cats would give it the paws up.
I have had this barrel for over a year now and it still looks good. I have two indoor large Bengal cats who adore their toy. Very sturdy, doesn't fall over and fits just right in a corner. Yes it is big but I feel really good value for money. Well made and probably the best scratch item I have ever purchased.
My Bengal Oscar loves this. It's really sturdy and there are plenty of places for him to hide inside and there's a mouse dangling inside. I was originally going to get the black one but read too many reviews that it smelled funny so I went with the natural cream colour. He climbs on it, sleeps on it and scratches on it. It's a big hit with Oscar. I highly recommend it.
I have two very large cats, and was looking for something stable and tall enough to withstand their weight. This barrel is perfect for what I needed - I've had it a few weeks now and both cats use it daily. It looks smart and is very good quality, and like another reviewer said bits don't collect on the floor. I my opinion it's much more practical than some of the flimsy looking trees you can buy. 5 stars!
Bought this to add to other 'catification' efforts in my living room. They love it, the middle and bottom holes provide a fun way for the cats to get behind the sofa and more often than not there's one if not two of them sleeping on the top.
I have 3 boys and they all try to fit in the top section together! The shyest of the 3 also loves the middle hole. great buy :-)
Got this a few months ago and the cats love it..we are a multicat household with 5 cats..lthis barrel has lots of space and is very stable and durable..2 maine coons can squeeze into the top hideyhole and snuggle! So impressed I've come onto the site to buy another..even happier to find the reduced price offer!
got this 2 mths ago and its the best ive ever bought quite expensive tho,but when you add up all the others that you buy its well worth it ,my cat luvs it ,exellent,
Cali loves her new scratch barrel, hideaway and look-out snooze pad. She no longer shreds my leather furniture. Very pleased with the size and sturdy weight of the barrel, it should last for years. I've seen a similar item selling at double the price, thanks Zooplus!
I don't usually review products but this is well worth a review. As an ex-breeder I only have one cat now and have been looking for something for weeks so that my cat can escape from the dog and this totally fits the bill. Such a simple concept but it really works. It's neat the cat loves it and have only had it for one day and she's found her own bedroom away from the dog! It's sturdy too but looks good. Delivery was really quick. I've only had it for one day so cant comment on durability but so far would highly recommend.
I thought it would take my new kitten a while to get the hang of the connecting holes, but after the first explore he loved it. Now 2 weeks on, he hides his toys on the second level then pretends to hunt them by going in through the bottom. Once he has tired himself out he hauls himself up on to the top bed and yawns at the dog and his people before having a well earned rest.
My 2 bengal kittens just love this, although when they both climbed up on the same side the barrel did fall over knocking over one of our speakers!
I have two big Bengals who adore this barrel. It is well made and well worth the money. Even with both heavy cats climbing the side it doesn't tip or wobble. It is big but looks great in a corner. Love it so wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others rather than a tree!
I took a risk buying this as I had no idea whether our kitten would like it -- she does! She sleeps, chills out, hides and plays in it as well as scratching on it. The mouse didn't survive for long, but she had fun with it while it lasted...
3 years ago i bought the smaller version of this barrel for my 3 sphynx, we have had 5 litters since then and I can say it has served them well, so much so that I have just bought the xxl size we are breeders of sphynx and as indoor cats/kittens they need to have plenty to keep them happy this barrel is tall and allows the biggest of my sphynx to streatch out fully to claw, with 3 holes/dens to explore a hanging toy and nice plush bed at the very top this makes a great all in one scratch post/bed look out, really sterday built to last being cream/beige it will fit in all decors, I highly recommend this product to all cat owners!!!!
My cats love it. Very sturdy with both of them hanging from it or playing. As said in other reviews, mouse was destroyed within 24hrs. All good so will be purchasing another soon.
I bought this for my two siamese cats Max and Kai. They love it. The day it arrived they were climbing into the holes before I had even removed all of the packaging. It is a good height and they love sitting and lying on the top level. Sometimes one will be on the top with the other in the upper entrance hole playing hide and seek with each other. It keeps them occupied whilst I'm out at work. Would recommend this product.
I was taken by this product because it looks good as a piece of furniture as well as being a scratching post. My cats were a little bemused by it to start with but they soon got the hang of it. The dangly mouse was destroyed within 24 hours, but the compartments make comfy hidey holes and the bed on the top has now been claimed. The height of it means even the biggest of my 3 cats can stretch as high as he likes and still gets a good scratch workout. The barrel is substantial and very stable, very well made, but easy for me to move about to clean around etc. Unlike sisal posts, this one doesn't shed bits. I'm glad I bought it.
This is a great product. It is well designed and put together. Very sturdy and heavy - does not move, even when two cats run at it and jump up to cling on the side. The furry bed at the top has been well received too. So good I am considering buying another.
Well built and very sturdy for big cats, great hiding places for afternoon sleeps and a plush bed on top for the more confident cats. Since purchasing this barrel the cats now scratch this instead of my leather settee....A must have item hightly recommended.
I saw something similar in a breeders house in belgium and liked it so much I decided to buy my Maine coons one. I was a bit worried about the size of the holes but there was really no need to worry. My babies can climb in and out no problem and my largest is 10kgs! Well worth it for £56 sale price :)
So back in 2009 I bought a "scratching barrel". It is smaller than this and didn't have a cushion back then. Infact 3 years on its not actually looking too bad. But we decided for Christmas a new scratching post would be a good idea. Having looked around (alot) we decided to go for the XXL version and pay that wee bit extra. We have a big lad of a cat and didn't want to waste money on something that wont last! It has arrived today and the first thing that hits you will be the size. It's huge! The cats all seem to like it and the mouse is still intact for now (this doesn't last long but the barrel itself is so well made this doesn't really matter)Our big cat Luka has claimed it as his for now. I would say that price justifies the product. These barrels are well made and great for kittens (all the wholes and the mouse) but also great for big cats too. Our Luka is 6.5kg and most scratching posts fall over when he tries to use them! This one is so tall that it will be a good stretch and scratch! My last one lasted 3 years and is still going strong and I expect this one to last too! Don't forget you are also getting a few beds -the top and 2 of the holes are good for sleeping in! £60 seems like a bargain! Highly recommend!
I have three of these now and my Maine Coons just love them, lovely and tall and sturdy so my big softies don't pull them over.
My two cats LOVE this and spend hours on this everyday. It's very sturdy and the neutral colour means it blends in with any room. I've had this for sometime and some of the staples have started to come away so I would recommend that you inspect it regularly and remove any that are coming loose so that they don't present a hazard to your cat. I still highly recommend this though as my cats get so much enjoyment from it.
Rocky took to it straight away. He loves it spends nearly all day in it , on it , round it.
Sturdy, multifunctional and easy on the eye. We use these a lot.
Excellent scratch post, well made and strong. Had mine for 3 years now an still looks brand new. My 10 cats love it. My Sphynx are very energetic an dive on this post. They love the 3 hide holes. Excellent value an tall enough to be a great item by the window for my cats to watch the outside world. Would highly recommend Helen Smith Worcester
This one took some strength to carry up to my apartment! It is very large and solid, and I think represents good value. There's loads of scratching surface, a comfy bed at the top and hiding places with a dangling toy (which my cat ignores, but that's just her). Mine is by the window and creates a good perch for bird-watching. I only have one cat but this one would be perfect for two or more, particularly the bottom two holes which are connected and would be ideal for play-fights.
Really sturdy and well made. The cats seem to enjoy taking a run up to scratch it and they can certainly have a good stretch against it. The top cushioned area is very popular. Our cats haven't shown much interest in the cave or lower levels yet but these are handy places to store their other toys. Well worth the money. Looks nice around the home too.
now i'm not the kind of guy that buys this kind of stuff too often but thought it might be fun for our newest recruits Little Ben and Oscar ... boy was i right ! we have 6 cats and since the barrel came it has had constant attention even from the oldies (Pig and Jess are now 15) even wild cat Duke has made it his guilty pleasure !
