Cleaning the fountain:
Clean the drinking fountain once a week with a soft sponge and a mild detergent without chemicals or abrasives and rinse it off. Be sure to rinse carefully so that no soap residue remains.

Cleaning the filter:
Remove the filter from the base section and rinse it. Do not wash the filter with soap. If the filter contains impurities or other foreign matter, replace it. (Replacement filters are sold separately.) Replace the filter every three to four weeks or as soon as signs of saturation with foreign matter (dirt, food residue, hair, etc.) become apparent. More frequent replacement may be necessary depending on the living environment or water quality, as well as if used by several animals. Please refer to the operating instructions.

Note: Cleaning the motor is important for the longevity of the fountain and the cleanliness of the water

1. Unplug the fountain from the mains.
2. Remove the upper bowl of the drinking fountain from the lower bowl.
3. Carefully lift the motor out of the lower bowl. The suction cups on the underside of the motor will hold it in position. A little force may be required.
4. Once the motor is removed from the well, use your thumb and forefinger to carefully press on both sides of the suction plate and pull it off. It may be necessary to insert a fingernail or suitable tool into the seam of the intake plate to pull it off.
5. Next, you will need to remove the stator by inserting your fingernail under the small lip on the narrow side of the teardrop-shaped stator and pulling it out.
6. Once the stator is removed, you can also remove the impeller (3-bladed propeller), which is held in place magnetically. To remove the impeller, use your fingernail to reach under a blade and lift it out.
7. Once the motor is disassembled, you can clean the parts with warm soapy water. Use a cotton bud to get into the cavity of the engine and remove any deposits. For additional disinfection and to remove hard water, you can clean the engine with white vinegar.
8. Rinse well.
9. Once the parts are clean, you can reassemble the motor by replacing the impeller, stator and cover plate.

Note: After replacing the impeller, rotate it a few times with your finger to make sure it is in place. Place the pump in water and plug it in to make sure it works before reassembling the fountain.
