These fat balls are just right. They're a bit hard on the outside and softer inside. I crush everything up and mix it with the fat pellets with insects. Why? The birds waste unnecessary energy clinging to the fat ball holder. Mixed in the birdhouse, they still get everything they need. Even the blackbirds love it with raisins and so on.

A lot of the balls were broken and unsuitable for the ball feeders. I crush the broken balls into smaller pieces, almost into a mix (and end up getting all my fingers sticky from the fat), and put them into feeders meant for seeds (sunflower, various seed mixes, fat pellets with insects, cranberries, etc.).
But there's another downside (besides dirty fingers): the crushed mix often blocks the holes in the feeders that are meant for seeds or pellets, so I have to clean the feeder holes quite often.

Quality has gone way down
I've bought hundreds of these balls. The last 2 orders (2 x 400 balls) were a nasty surprise. As others have mentioned, instead of balls, the box was mostly filled with crushed pieces. I don't recommend them, I won't be ordering again.

Unfortunately, I really can't recommend these at all 😔. The fat balls are of poor quality, as their texture is very floury. Only about 30% of the balls delivered could actually be used in the holders provided, and even then, two-thirds of them fell to the ground because they're so crumbly.
