JR Garden Grain-Free Hedgehog Food

The best food! Our night time visitors love crunching on it 😀

My usual hedgehog food supplier was out of stock so I ordered this one. Unfortunately none of my resident hedgehogs will eat it. I used to have an issue with Mr fox, crows and seagulls eating all their food next morning but not with this product for whatever reason.

Hedgehogs are pure insectivores; while this food is grain-free, it contains potatoes, potato flakes, beet pulp, yeast, birch leaves and much more. He only eats this food out of desperation, but he can't digest it. It's really sad in my opinion that some specialist shops or manufacturers still don't get this. I did buy it, but unfortunately didn't pay attention to the ingredients. I'd be glad if specialist shops stopped selling this kind of food.

The product is advertised and described as follows: The food is characterised by a particularly high proportion of animal protein and is additionally enriched with tasty insects. However, the delivered packaging of the food contains no insects.

We have a lot of hedgehogs here, so we've set up special houses for them for the winter and two feeding stations. One wasn't enough—the stronger ones would chase away the smaller ones—so we made a second one, and now all the prickly little guys are happy. I mix this product with another one I buy here and with cat kibble. They all eat with such joy, and from our terrace, we get a wonderful show late into the night. Thank you for these feeds, and I would love it if you offered them in larger packs. Excellent kibble—HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

The handful I put out every evening before 10:30 pm is promptly enjoyed by three beautiful hedgehogs that I think have made their home somewhere in our garden... After that time, if they don’t find any, they come right up to the house to raid our little dog’s kibble 🤗 but when the last pack I bought runs out, I’ll have to stop... They’re just for the winter.
