Poisonous Plants for Small Pets
During the summer, many small pets enjoy free run of the garden. However, not everything that is green is good to eat! Check your garden regularly for any potentially dangerous or poisonous plants before letting your small pet explore.

Which plants are poisonous for your small pet?
Plants to look out for:
Bracken, pheasant’s eye, wild garlic, mountain laurel, any bean plants, beechnuts, boxwood, ivy, foxglove, honeysuckle, poison ivy, meadow saffron, elderberries, cherry laurel, crocuses, lily of the valley, daffodils, oleander, larkspur, iris, sweet clover, belladonna and tulips.
Depending on the type, these can cause severe diarrhoea and, in the worst cases, cardiac arrest. Look out for initial symptoms of poisoning such as diarrhoea, blood in faeces, vomiting, convulsions and tremors. If any of these appear, take your pet to the vet immediately.
