Product description

A balanced wet food, formulated for cats that gain weight quickly. Supports the treatment of lower urinary tract disease by helping to dissolve struvite and oxalate stones. Sold in handy pouches.

Royal Canin Veterinary - Urinary S/O Moderate Calorie is a complete dietetic wet food with a moderate calorie content, specially formulated for overweight or obese cats. Cats that have a tendency to gain weight or are currently overweight frequently suffer from lower urinary tract diseases, so it is important to feed your cat a diet which provides support to their urinary system. Urinary tract disease can lead to urinary stones (including struvite and calcium oxalate uroliths) developing. Royal Canin Veterinary - Urinary S/O Moderate Calorie is specially formulated to treat cystitis and urinary stones in overweight or obese cats. This wet food is also suitable as a prophylaxis for cats with a sensitive urinary tract. The ingredients help to dissolve existing struvite crystals and also to dilute the urine. The moderate calorie content helps to prevent your cat from gaining excessive weight and instead maintain an ideal weight.

General information:

  • Please seek your vet's advice before using this food or extending the feeding period.
  • When feeding your cat with a veterinary diet you should consult your vet regularly for check-ups.
  • If your cat's health deteriorates please seek veterinary advice immediately.

Indications:

  • Dissolution of struvite uroliths
  • Idiopathic cystitis
  • Prophylactic prevention of calcium oxalate stones
  • Prophylactic prevention of struvite stones
  • Cystitis
Contraindications:
  • Chronic renal failure, metabolic acidosis
  • Heart failure
  • Hypertension
  • Pregnancy, lactation, kittens
  • Simultaneous use of urine acidifying medication
Key benefits:
  • Struvite dissolution: Urinary S/O Moderate Calorie helps to dissolve struvite stones
  • Moderate calorie content: reduced calorie content makes it easier for your cat to maintain a healthy weight
  • Urine dilution: diluting the urine decreases the chance of struvite and calcium oxalate stones from forming
  • Low RSS: helps lower the concentration of ions that contribute to struvite crystal formation
Changing your pet's diet and length of treatment:

Your pet will need to stay on this diet for 5 to 12 weeks, or until the stones are dissolved. It is advisable to feed this diet for a further 6 months to prevent a recurrence. Once your cat is better (urine test), you can feed them Royal Canin Veterinary – Obesity Management or Satiety Support, if they are overweight. Alternatively, if your cat has been neutered and is already maintaining their ideal weight, they can be fed with a product from the Royal Canin – Neutered range.

Further information:

Please ensure that during their illness your pet is fed only with Royal Canin Veterinary - Urinary S/O Moderate Calorie, otherwise the effectiveness of this product may be reduced. Urinary S/O wet cat food is recommended if your pet suffers with recurring idiopathic cystitis.

I am so happy I purchased it. My cat has a bladder stone issue and have to keep him on special diet. I am trying to change his food for different taste and this one is his favourite and it keeps him happy and healthy too. The price is very good and the delivery is really fast. Recommend it
Just over 2 years ago my cat, then 16, developed periodic extreme stomach rumblings lasting several days. Vet could find nothing wrong. This summer, now 18, it became constant with some vomiting and colic otherwise well. Seems he's developed an intolerance and this is the only specialist wet food any of my cats have ever eaten. I do pep it up with a small amount of extra minced chicken because it's all he is being fed, but he will eat it without.

The Best Food Ever!!!
My cat BSH cream male has had so many sicknesses for 1 year now. Vets didn't know what his problem was for a while.... From antibiotics, to constipation, to ear infection, to bowel smell...throw ups... digestion.. name it all.. until the vet gave probiotics only 3 days course he was well. So She said, why don't you try Royal Canin Gastro... and you know what? my boy loves it. He is eating, (touch wood) and he has great bathroom, he can digest, and he feels his appetite is back! Thanks so much!!!

Perfect for my new kittens
My kittens suffered from severe dihorea for several weeks. Started them on this and it worked a treat. Slowly weaned them onto their normal food but really help out with a messy situation.

Excellent price
Our vet recommended (well told) that we buy this food as our kitty who suffers from stress related bladder problems, mainly crystals which unfortunately makes him pee all over the house. Before we started him on this, he was on Whiskers (which he loved)…however this has much more meaty and looks more appetising! I add a drop or two of water to a) add to his water intake and b) make it more into a meat & gravy meal. Oscar eats it, depending how hungry he is. I also buy the dried Urinary too…which

Excellant food, my cat was diagnosed at Xmas with urinary problem (struvite crystals) and for his future health was told he must loose weight. So 2 microchip feeding bowels & water fountain purchased and also he had this food and biscuits, as finally found something he liked! He loved both and at last check up has lost 1.6 kg, thank you Royal Canin

Expensive but cheaper than from the vet
My cat adores this food and it took him from having a lot of struvite crystals in his urine (the S/O variant) to just a couple of fragments in 3 weeks. The only reason he's transitioned to the dry variant is the cost. If it was up to him, he'd eat it all day!

Seems to help
My cat has been suffering from urinary problems. After seeing the vet and getting loads of tablets she recommended this food. He seems to be returning to his old self and will continue to feed this food! Would recommend if you're cat has urinary issues too!

Excellent for controlling pancreatitis
This is the one to go for if your cat has diarrhoea caused by pancreatitis. Morning floor clean-ups were becoming all too frequent but have reduced by about 90% since I put my cat onto this diet, and presumably he feels more comfortable too. I also give him one of the Royal Canin gastro-intestinal biscuits (not the low calorie one) and he is fine on this too. Beware another Royal Canin soft food called sensitivity-something else - I bought this once by mistake and the diarrhoea came back.

Perfect for my cats
My youngest kitten came to us with a nasty parasite (do not ask how the breeder allowed this to happen)! This causes severe diarrhoea. We tried a number of products but this is product is fabulous. She is almost entirely asymptotic now and, whilst a fussy eater, enjoys the small chunks. I agree with an earlier reviewer that it would be great to stock more flavours (if they have others?) as she can get a bit bored. Can't recommend highly enough!!!!

Does the trick for crystals and FLUTD
Our poor little man had a terrible 2015, culminating in full blockage and a major operation (and month of sheer hell) in January. However, having been told by the vets that he needs a crystal controlling diet now - perhaps for life - we started him on this (and the other flavours). He gets bored of flavours, so we alternate this, moderate calorie and beef (please start stocking beef zooplus!) plus the occasional katovit pouch. No bladder problems since the switch in diet. Great stuff.
