It’s empty in here!
Our Jack Russell was from a rescue and poor conditon My daughter did some research on a dog food nutrient site and found Lukullus was well recommended. He use to be so much more begging and this fills him up. lovely coat and very healthy on it. Though I have found we now mix a bit of wet food with it now as he seemed bored with it for a while.
4 out of my 5 dogs have been having this food for the last year ( working Spaniels and a Brittany). My working Cocker can’t eat chicken at all without getting diarrhoea. So this is perfect as there is absolutely no chicken content. They have all thrived on it and maintained perfect weight. They haven’t had the thirst others seem to have experienced and took to it straight away. Cold pressed definitely beats kibble for keeping them in good condition and giving a glossy coat.
I have three dogs, one can be very fussy and all three have stomach problems, they are always super excited for food now, as opposed to their old kibble that they'd just saunter over to. They're all in wonderful condition and now have a wonderful shine to their coat - will be sticking on this!
This arrived quickly, and when I opened the pack, my puppy sniffed the air and ran over. However, he is a little Maltese of 21 weeks and the pieces are far bigger than the picture shows, with most between 3 and 4 cms - far too big for his little mouth. They are also too hard for me to break up easily, so I cut a few with poultry shears and he loved them. But I have very arthritic hands, so cutting them all is neither possible nor practical. So they will be given away.
My 3 GSD love this food and have done for over 5 years
I am not a Vet so this review is based on a laymans findings. We have a Westie (they can be quite sensitive to diet) & a rescued spaniel who will eat anything! Even 1 of our cats will have a go at it given a chance! They both seem to enjoy this food (coming from Burns), yes they seem to drink 'slightly' more & there does seem to be a lot more 'mess' in the garden for me to clear up :( The spaniels coat is still VERY shiny & both dogs have plenty of energy! No skin issues with the Westie.
I have been using this food on my Belgian Shephard X Border Collie for nearly 2 years now and it is absolutely perfect. He is sensitive to poultry. Even a slightest poultry gives him dihaerrae. Most foods even Beef based ones might include some poultry in it sometimes but the beef and fish version of this food has no poultry at all. He has been very stable with his weight and his coat shines. Every vet he has been to said keep whatever I have been giving to him.
After some research I switched my pug & frug from Purizon to Lukullus. The richness of Purizon produced so much gas and runny poos from my frug who has a sensitive stomach. The food is very heavy and compacted, so it doesn't look much when you feed twice a day so weighing is essential to avoid overfeeding. Poos are now compact and my stinky boys are much more fragrant.
I bought this food after reading multiple reviews but have found that it gave my 3yr old chocolate lab awful backdoor trots! I eased him onto the food gently but it still didn't agree with him. Have also noticed excessive drinking since he's been on this diet and not sure if it's connected to the ingredients. The food looks good and I'm sure it's good quality, but it's just not for my boy.
This diet gave my 3yr chocolate lab terrible diarrhoea and made him drink excessively. It looks good quality and he scoffs it down, but just doesn't agree with him.
After much research decided on this brand for our lab puppy. When we first got him he suffered terrible digestive problems after being on this food for less then a week the problem was sorted. His poo is now firm and easy to pick up, he seems to really enjoy this food and it smells pleasant. He's growing as he should and the vet is very happy with him now. I would recommend. Whilst researching I found a lot of people online believed these reviews were written by people affiliated with zooplus, I am in no way connected to the company.
Super happy with the move from kibble to cold pressed food of this quality. On the initial change over some of my dogs were gagging and thirsty (as per some negative reviews) but I bared with it, soaked the food more until this stopped which it did for all but one dog. She only weight 12kg so I think maybe the food is too big for her even though she ate it every meal. I have considered breaking her bits up and retrying her. The other 5 dogs are looking great, all have waistline, great stools.
My dog is currently on Raw however I am using Lukullus to feed alongside . I was drawn to Lukullus due to the high meat content and the fact that it contains no additives and unclear ingredients like many other pet foods. I introduced the wet tins carefully, my Dobermann has an extremely sensitive tummy, I gave him a quarter tin the first day and then over the days increased this. Once he was settled on the tins I then introduced the dry food,as treats, just a handful. My boy has stayed firm throughout introducing this food which is fantastic, as it used to be a nightmare trying to get him settled onto a certain food as he had a bad bout of colitis not too long ago. Bigger poops than on Raw but at least they are firm! Quick delivery! Ordered on a Tuesday, came Thursday. Highly recommend, especially for sensitive dogs!
Have tried a number of wheat free foods for my victorian bulldog who has a number of food allergies that flare up and make him itch his skin. This food has made a noticeable difference. Just be careful on food size as I found one cup of this weighs as much of two of other food I have used. So weigh amount before feeding first time. Highly recommend.
We struggled finding a food for our pup that had good ingredients and at reasonable price. This fits both, plus its the only food that hasn't effect her number 2's or her bad wind she was having(no longer). Would totally recommend the food to everyone, comes well package and has a nice smell to it surprisingly.
My dogs have been on this for a few years now. One of my JRT's was very fussy and literally wouldn't eat his food, I tried a number of other good brands, but none he seemed to like for more than a couple of weeks. I tried Lukullus as it had good properties, dry extruded, good nutritional reviews(I look up on allaboutdogfood.co.uk) without breaking the bank. All my dogs enjoy it, although my older dog doesn't have it so often as she puts on too much weight.
I alternate between this and Markus Muelle for my dry food, I'll only feed cold pressed and raw. This provides a change of flavour and the shape of the nuggets makes it good for treats too. I have a working dog who has been fed this diet for 5 years now and is very fit and healthy as a result.
My black Lab has been on this from the junior version and now the adult. It's been excellent, he gets complimented for his coat all the time and still loves it so its 5 stars from me.
i bought 2 trial packs my staffy loved them chicken and salmon was his favourite in the 2 weeks he,s been on it the difference in him is unbelieveable !!!
I have a lab puppy who has a very sensitive stomach. I have tried a few different brands of food and we just couldn't get rid of the runny poos until now. Every since he has been on this the difference is amazing. Can't recommend this brand enough. I also a 3 year old lab who is now on this brand as well and they both love it.
It is an excellent product the only drawback is that the nuggets are so big! I have tiny Pomeranian dogs and I have to feed the puppy version as the nuggets are smaller, and even that is too big for some of them. Lukulus please consider making smaller nuggets for tiny dogs, my dogs love it, and keep up the quality it is excellent.
Over the past year I've been giving this and Markus M to our German shepherds mixed in with some dry grain free kibble for a balance and some days they have it on its own and we have perfect whoopsies and clean bowls.ours also have some meaty toppers added in the grain free forthglade and this added to the pellet isn't essential its just that our boy needs to gain a few kilos and our girl cannot be left out so they both enjoy their meal times and our zooplus orders always arrives in good time and condition. I'm pleased with the qualities of our dog food from Germany its got very good ethics too so I would highly recommend . 👍🐶🐶🐾🐾🐾🐾
My dog gets bored with all food but the two I get from Zooplus. One is this excellent quality food. She always loves it.
it's very nice x
The dogs adore the taste of this food, the sack arrived this morning and they were trying to get into it before i could even put it in their bowls. I love how it has a very minimal grain content with the only grain in it being a little bit of rice. its mostly lamb, duck and potatoes. Its hypoallergenic with a good meat content and great for dogs with allergies or sensitive bellies :) All of my dogs love it, from my tiny terrier to my lurcher and i use it as training treats for my parents dogs!
Having switched from acana both my dogs love this food, my gsd's stools have been very good as he suffers from runny poops but there has been an extreme increase in thirst which has resulted in accidents. Hoping this settles or will have to switch back
Had our rescue Galgo almost 2 years now. For the first year we tried him on all sorts of high end kibble, but he was clearly not happy with what he was fed. After much research we discovered cold pressed dog food & after various trials of all brands available in the UK, he settled for Lukullus Barbary Duck & Lamb. He's on his 4th bag. We've tried alternating with another cold pressed brand, but he makes it clear where his preference lies. Thanks Zooplus for great bargains & excellent service
Have tried a few different foods with my collie pyrenees cross but always came out runny but this one I get solid with added bonus of shinier coat
This food has a very strong aroma and has a feel and look of quality. My 2 dogs took to it straight away but as it has only just arrived it is too early to comment on their condition, however, they give the immediate impression of enthusiasm and that's a good start!! I have, in trepidation ordered the lupullus wet canned food too as I feel this will complement this quality dry food perfectly.
My border collie love it, :)
My Rhodesian Ridgeback suffered terribly with a poor digestive system for a couple of years, during which many Vet visits were necessary in order to determine the cause and cure. We tried all manner of diets and all manner of digestion drugs but nothing helped. The poor lad continued having very regular bouts of diarrhoea, lying down all day feeling weary, and vomiting in every room in the house. Then we thought we would try grain-free kibble, and Lukullus Charolais Beef & Trout looked tempting, even to us! I could not believe the result .. instantly Max transformed into a normal, bouncy, happy dog. It was like switching on a light. Since he started the grain-free meals he has not needed any vet visits (apart from the annual MOT/boosters of course) and the vet says that he is in remarkably good health. I must also mention that Max absolutely loves the food, as does every dog we meet and treat.
The dogs love it and it is excellent nutrition.
My dog loves this. He had a lot of stomach problems with his other food but this one is absolutely great, all natural and good!
My dogs LOVE this food, the tins AND the treats natural food with great taste thats definitely worth a try ♥ it :-D
I researched dry food options and liked the idea of cold pressed foods. Choices are limited and I use both this and Markus Mueller too for a bit of variety. Lukullus is less crumbly than the MM, the ingredients are similar. My dog works hard ans looks great on his diet. The only downside is the quantity you feed always looks like a really meagre offering but just goes to show the quality isn't bulked out with rubbish.
Thank goodness I did a bit of homework (at the brilliant allaboutdogfood.co.uk web site) when Archibald got terminally bored with the Burns he'd been reared on.

This Lukullis is everything the more positive and informative reviews say it is.

For starters you only have to see and smell the stuff to know it's good. One of the key factors to this is the fact that there's no grain in it and it's very low in carbo-hydrates, which I believe dogs have difficulty assimilating. And I imagine that as the food is cold-pressed rather than cooked into submission, this can only be good.

Being big and lanky and a bit ungainly in his gait, Archibald's normal lope wasn't all it could be, on a diet of overpriced and overrated product, which really fell short nutrition-wise. But a few weeks in with Lukullis and he has a real bounce and glide to his step now.

His poos are utter text book now, and his waist is really tapering well, without any weight loss. All of which amounts to persuasive evidence of the quality of this stuff.

It is clear to me that Lukullis is responsible for a big uplift in Archie's health and mood lately. No bloat, no excessive waste, full throttle appetite back again, more calm and level headed despite better energy levels (he gets a lot of exercise).... and demonstrative in his appreciation for the stuff.

Quote me on this: you will end up with a happier, healthier dog if you give them Lukullis.

I am looking forward to trying out the new Barbary Duck and Lamb variety on Archie next, having indulged him with the Charolais Beef & Trout variety.

Happy punter, happy dood.
Aphex the border terrier has no bowel problems, food hang ups, appetite or energy issues. The only reason to try this was my curiosity about cold pressed foods. I thought that Aphex's coat got a little greasier initially, and that he did larger poos more often- 3 times instead of 2. His energy levels remained the same, but the poo texture was slightly goo-ier but easy enough to bag. We will return to Orijens for a while for the smaller poos- oh and that Orijens smells better to me!
finding a food BOTH of my fussy dogs will eat. This is it. I think the search is finally over and it's only taken me four years lol. Just as importantly I like the fact the ingredients in this are top class. I wouldn't feed my children rubbish and I won't feed my dogs rubbish either. I highly recommend this and the wet food
Lukullus Charolais Beef & Trout has got to be 5* Hotel dining for our dogs. My Rideback loves it above all others, and the dogs in the village are all glad to take a treat off me. My dog suffered from a digestion problem which has taken a couple of years of varying diets to sort out. Happily, since trying grain-free, his problems have disappeared.
My dogs love this food and look really well on it. I have studied canine nutrition and know that the ingredients in this food are really good for your dog. The price is also extremely good value for money. I highly recommend this food to my clients.
My puppy is so fussy. He has tried every brand, wet and dry. Nothing worked. Until this. I thought I'd try the trial offer. Wow. He's not enjoyed his food like this since he was tiny. Now at a year old, he's finally in the right frame of mind. ..... .
Since getting a rescue greyhound 10 months ago I have tried many brands of kibble and he clearly hasn't liked any of it, and I've had to mix it with home cooked food to get him to eat it. I bought a bag of Lukullus and he loves this, eating it on its own or soaked (he's only eaten other kibble when softened). Its such a relief to find a food he likes.
This is a great food but I prefer for my boy to get a higher meat percentage. Purizon is the next step up but is actually TOO rich - lots of gas. Now I mix both 50/50 and it is perfect. If Lukullus came in a 50/50 blend it would be perfect.
My golden retriever loves the food and has not experienced any 'extra poo issues'. It seems that Lukullus has actually reduced the quantity and that's positive. I alternate with a different cold pressed food and Ben is thriving. His coat is shiny and healthy and he is full of energy.
My 26kg highly energetic dog thrives on this food and I am content that I am doing the best for her by feeding it. I was really disappointed to see that, in the newest bag, the pellets are much smaller than when I first began buying this. The lovely big chunky pieces used to mean that my dog didn't bolt her food and had to bite bits of it which was good for her teeth and gave more substance to her mealtimes. So that's a shame, but still good ingredients and none of the rubbish ones you see in some dogfoods.
I have a fussy 15 month old Border Collie, who was fed up of his previous food, which he would refuse to eat! It was a good quality food (Arden Grange) but he just wasn't interested. Bought the trial size packs to give him some variety, and it was gone in seconds. He seems to be in a better mood, and his tummy is fine (he's prone to a sensitive tum). The pellets are harder but he liked having a good crunch! Very satisfied. Will buy the 15kg packs in future. Thanks zooplus for stocking such a great range.
My apsos, Shih tzu and Chihuahua loved both flavours. They are fed on grain free wet food. This is the first dried food they have eaten with relish. I bought these trial packs to use as treats, but am considering making this their main meal.
Concerned about the reviews on increased poop I mix this food with the chicken Orijen that my cocker was previously on. Initially she would pick all the Lukullus out of her bowl and leave the Orijen. She eats it all now, loves it and seems happy and well. Stools maybe a tad larger. The kibble is of various sizes and square shaped with two rough edges which might be a problem for smaller dogs that swallow food without chewing. Its helped stop my dog from eating too fast as she now crunches it first. Feeding guidelines puts a small amount in her bowl. Difficult to know if this is enough as she would eat all day long if she could! Still on our first sack but so far I would recommend.
My lab does have a very soft shiny coat, but this food seems to keep it in top condition. He's also very laid back contrary to most chocolate owners experience, I don't know if the food helps but I like the no additives. I also like that a small scoop twice a day is sufficient, he's just the right weight and no huge poos so not much wastage.!
My Boston Terrier loves this food and after trying several premium dry foods this seems to be the one that has sorted out his "jogger's trots", he now produces a poo that can be bagged without having to wipe it up! He loves both varieties. It is quite hard and has fairly large pieces but he adapted quickly, we even use it for training treats. 10/10.
Our Border collie is a fussy eater, and having tried her on numerous dry dog foods, (Arden Grange, JWB, CSJ etc.) I decided to try this one, based on the nutritional values. We are now on our second 15 kilos with her and she so far shows no sign of going off this food. It's actually more of a problem to make sure she doesn't eat too much. I have also noticed that, since being on this food, she has started to chunk out, something she was struggling to do on other foods.
Having tried Orijen, Acana, Taste of the Wild, Burns, even Bakers Meaty Meals in desperation, we had given up hope of ever getting my daxie off tinned food. Even with Lukullus or Rocco wet food he was incredibly picky, whilst my pointer cross scoffs anything down happily. Bought a trial pack of Charolais Beef & Trout dry food and well, I was amazed to see him leave the meat in favour of the dry! It's like Pony Nuts and he can crunch it, whereas some kibbles are too hard (he can't actually seem to crunch Burns Chicken and Oat!) My pointer loves it too, although she loves anything edible. This food smells and tastes really appetising, I just wish we'd tried it sooner! Anyway, he loves it so much I now weigh his ration out and use it to train him because he thinks it's a treat. One very happy owner!!
Holly, my fussy Springer Spaniel turns her nose up at lots of food so I thought I would just try her on this. I can't believe just how quickly she hoovered this up and then looked around for more. I will be giving her a mixture of this and the wet Lukullus as she seems to love that too.
I tried this as it was on offer. I have 2 spaniels and a collie cross. All seem to like it and it goes down well with them. HOWEVER, I think the feeding guide is a little on the excessive side. They recommend 1.2% of your dog's weight to be fed. I fed this and they seemed to poop for England! They are producing FAR more waste than with other foods I've tried (the best being Eukanuba so far). SO I cut down the ration and the pooping is not quite so bad BUT the cocker spaniel's coat has now gone from soft and shiny to harsh and dry - along with her skin. In summation the food is reasonably priced when on special offer but it had down sides for my girls :( That's not to say it will suit millions of others but I won't be buying it again - will go back to Eukanuba - 5 star food that suits them all and means I'm not clearing the garden of poop 4 - yes FOUR times a day. Sorry Lukullus
When they say dogs are like their owners, they are not far wrong with my border collie and I. We like lie-ins, long walks (in our waterproofs if its raining!), and good food. I have always stayed away from the dog food with high cereal content and at the cheaper end of the market as it’s a false economy. I changed to Lukullus after reading other reviews on zooplus and Suzi had become bored with the last brand. She absolutely loves this! The size of the kibble means she has to chew it before swallowing, her coat is soft and shiny, she has bounds of energy and her digestion is great. What more could a girl ask for!?
This is the best dog food I have bought, my two dogs never get tired of it and have been on it for years? It's a really good quality product.
I got a sample bag of this food which I used as treats for my dog. He loved it. I tried switching my Alaskan Malamute onto it full time but his coat became a bit dry, almost brittle. I switched him back to his old food after one bag but still keep a small bag around for treats. It didn't quite suit my boy, but he loves the taste and I like the ingredient list.
I've been using Lukullus for two years now and my dogs are in excellent health, everyone is commenting on their coats. The dogs themselves love the food one only have the dried food but one of my collies he also have half a lukullus pouch as a topper. The food is brilliant, and to do a mixed pack is brilliant also, so I don't have to order large quanties of food all at once as my dogs love both flavours which we use alternatly. Please keep the mixed packs.
bought this for my two senior weimaraners. They struggled with eating it because it was very hard compared to other dry dog food and so I had to soften it first with warm water, so not good for their old teeth! Only need a small amount of this compared to other dog foods though.
After extensive research on dog food I came across Lukullus. This food has great ingredients which are good for my dogs and they love it. The price is very good too for a quality dog food. I highly recommend.
I have recently changed my Border Collies from burns Alert to Lukullus Chicken & Northern Wild Salmon because one of my boys was very thin. Although they were in excellent condition before, since changing to Lukullus I have never seen my dogs look so good. Kipper's harsh coat is now soft and very shiney, and although he is a tricolour the black is as dark as a black and white. My only problem they poo for England. I think I may be feeding too much so I will cut them down a bit, and see how it goes.
Just like the wet Lukullus food, my dogs (a dachshund, boxer and a labrador) have no problems digesting this dry food. Nice one!
My dog loves this food. When feeding time comes around, she can barely contain herself. So far, she's having no digestive problems, no bloating, no diarrhea.
My two Yorkies are really fussy but they really responded well to this food. No problems adjusting to it. I'm really happy and I'm definitely gonna stick with this brand.
My dog loves both varieties of Lukullus and he's doing great on them. I tried him on Markus Muhle and Luposan but they cannot compare to this food. I would love to see more varieties like fish and lamb but, well, you don't always get what you want, do you?
I really wanted to like this food as we are really careful about the food we give to our Irish terrier. The ingredients read as very good quality and the price is very reasonable, but it kept making him gag all the time. The biscuits are very dense so I dont know if they were too much for his stomach? Otherwise no other problems with it.
My Dobermann cannot tolerate grains, this food is cheaper than the alternatives and he does fantastically well on it!
My Springer Spaniel and Collie Spaniel Cross adore this food. The Springer has an intollerance to anything with feathers and this has made it virtually impossible to find something that doesn't upset his tummy. Before they had James Wellbeloved but this is certainly better (and cheaper) Not only do they adore it but they have been having it for the last 12 months and their coats have never been in better condition, glossy and thick. Highly recommended.
I have four Irish Setters & a Cocker Spaniel and they all love this food. I previously fed them all on Orijen but it made them put too much weight on. I changed to Acana but it has become so expensive to feed five dogs on that I decided to try this one after looking carefully at the ingredients. I must say my dogs seem to enjoy this food better than the previous brands.
My dog (Border Collie) has always had quite sensitive stomach and been underweight. I tried several brands of kibbles, with grains, without grains, holistic, hypoallergenic, and there was no change. Three weeks ago I started him on Lukullus and he is doing great! The poops are small and solid, he already put on some weight and he absolutely loves this food. I think this may be due to the process of making it. In the future I will try other cold-pressed foods but for now he is gonna eat Lukullus.
I’ve a lively spinger spaniel, 15 months old. I’ve tried all types of foods, in an attempt to ween her off the puppy variety. A fussy bitch, she is :) With any food I’ve introduced, I’ve had to pratically starve her, before she’d eventually succumb and have a nibble or two. Most frustrating .. until, that is, with the arrival of Lukullus (thanks to the couple of reviews I’ve read here). She just loves it! .. gobbles it down, like there’s no tomorrow. The proof is certainly in the eating! Healthy stools and good energy levels, to boot. Super food, altogether.
This is a very nutritious and well made product. My dog is crazy about it. When I was slowly switching to this food, my dog would pick out each piece of Lukullus and run to his bed to eat and savor it. He has only done this with his treats before and I have tried lots of high quality complete dog foods.
I have been feeding my beagle Orijen for about 1 year. Recently, she had not been as excited about her food as usual as is also putting on a little weight, so I decided to alter her diet. Today I mixed a little Lukullus in with the Orijen, and she picked every bit of Lukullus out and left the rest. I cannot comment any further on stools, energy, coat, weight etc as it is too early to tell, but I will update in the future.
Our 3 dogs love it, love it and love it! All in that order.
