It’s empty in here!
I completely agree with some of the comments that the post got smaller to previous version and not as high. Additionally, mine is also defective. Middle part has to be attached by screws to other parts of the post but the holes were drilled incorrectly so it doesn't screw in completely on any of the sides and wobbles. What a shame and waste of money.
Still an amazing value for money but am disappointed with the change in updated version and feel it’s not as good for cats. There’s less scratching area, it’s only half sisel and now half material. If you have a tall cat they won’t be able to stretch up fully as they’ll touch material rather than sisel. Have a 3 legged cat who used to scratch lower part of old one but can’t on this one as it’s higher up.
I bought this as a replacement for the one we've had for about 5 years. The design has changed and it's smaller and narrower than the previous one, which isn't too bad. It's strong and the cats love it. They preferred the old one because it was more stable, I can't really fault this one though.
This is our second one of these. Our other lasted 2 years with two cats. It’s a great scratch post, very sturdy and big. The cats love stretching out on it. Delivery was very fast and I was kept well informed of when it would be.
It’s a great furniture saver, my girls love it
I have had one of these for 8 years and only now need to replace it. My cats love it, would highly recommend it.
I bought this post to replace another, which was too small for my long cat. The scratching post fits securely into the base and does not move when my cat uses it. I've not had the scratch post for long but the sisal has not frayed. The illustration shows a cat sitting on the top of the post. There is no way my cat would try to do this on such a narrow post.
I have bought a number of these posts over the years, and my most recent one, bought approx. last month is of the poorest quality yet. The post is not as wide, has less sisal on it ,and the sisal is thinner. The base is smaller and not as weighted, and the material the post is covered with is not of the same quality. It now balls. Shame. I find a lot of the products I re-purchase do not maintain the original standard of quality.
The photo doesnt do it justice! Its big thick massive one, my cats are very happy with it its lovely soft to touch at top and bottom and ruff for they're claws in the middle! Fab buy
just received this scratch pole , which was described as dark grey , however it is a horrible mouse brown colour , so I am very disappointed to say the least ! I know many people may think it is not important to match the colour scheme in your house but in my mind it makes it look less obvious so again I am not happy !
I bought this post as a replacement for one I have had for 3 years. The height is much smaller with far less sisal the colour is also not dark grey but brown . Extremely disappointed, I will be returning. First time I have ever been disappointed with your products.
This is smaller than the previous posts and the sisal is poor quality, coming apart very quickly. The fabric at the top has split and the whole thing is a waste of money.
Smaller than the older version in all ways, smaller base, smaller in height and the height of the sisal is lower so for large cats they may not get a full stretch. Still seems sturdy but only time will tell. Came in a smaller package so perhaps this is why they've gone smaller ?
Like some other reviewers this was a follow-up to an earlier version and its construction is not as solid. Original was two pieces. This is four pieces, presumably for ease of transport. It can and does take the weight of NFC's but the sisal has given up far too quickly. Have just ordered the zoolove Scratching Post XXL with 1cm diameter sisal as a replacement. More expensive certainly, but you do get what you pay for.
This is the 3rd one of these posts I have bought, It has got a lot smaller and thinner and is not as sturdy as the old style post (same price though). Such a shame as I know this wont last as log as the other 's I bought, Not happy my cats are quite small Simesse but jump around like mad . I am glad I still have the old one as I will try and get it restrung,
I didn't check the measurements before I ordered this so when it arrived I was surprised at how large it is! I'm glad I got it though because the size is actually just right. My cats get a good stretch using it and one of them loves to climb all the way up and perch on top. After a few months' use it still looks great and is still very sturdy.
Excellent value for money. We have two cats and they both use the post. Would recommend to others as we were recommended to the site.
We have two 6-month-old cats and needed them to stop scratching the sofa before the upholstery started to show the damage so ordered this. I didn't check the measurements and was slightly taken aback by how tall it is but I'm glad I got it because I think the large size is really an advantage. The little cat started using it within about 2 minutes and then figured out how to climb up and perch on top! Her brother took a few days to figure out what it was for but both of them have stopped scratching the sofa now so I'm really pleased. I'm planning to mount a shelf on the wall above so they can run up the post and jump onto the shelf which I think they'll really enjoy.
Product is good size, good balance but quality not so much. Rope is just stick to the top so after few months it's coming down and you can see a cardboard and material on the top is tearing apart. Anyway my cats like it.
I've had this tree for half a year now and it's called into action several times a day. It's so stable that my Norwegian Forest Cat can jump on it without knocking it over. The finish is very good and you can hardly tell it's been used after half a year. Holds firm even when both of my cats are playing on/with it. I can only recommend it.
Neat and robust cat tree. Perfectly adequate. High enough for cats to stretch and scratch like they would against a tree. We've had it for roughly 4 years and the sisal is only loose in one or two places. Good quality finish. Stable enough for bigger cats.
Our British Shorthair kitten Chesney loves this post. He often runs up and down it and sits on top. He was always trying to sit on his smaller scratching posts but this one is so big he has a much higher success rate! The base is a good size so his hind claws are well off the carpet when he does his claws too. Excellent!!
My two kittens absolutely love this post, it's great to play chase up and down and launch themselves off the top. Lily sits there waiting for eye level cuddles. My two senior cats have a good stretch with it but haven't gone as far as climbing up. It's got a nice big furry base were they have their catnip toys so they're all happy. It seems to be well made and believe me I am fussy! All in all a very good buy.
All other scratching posts pale in comparison to this one, a definite must for any cat owner
I feel bad that the cats don't have trees to climb and one of my cat is a climber, so i wanted to get a climbing pole for him. I live in an apartment, so I can't install anything that will reach the ceiling. This is nice and tall. It's sturdy too. I'm very happy. The ropes loosen a little on top and my cats nails are always trimmed, so I can see that being a problem for people with untrimmed cat nails, but I'm still happy with this purchase
I already had the Olga scratching post, which my two moggies loved but had outgrown, so when I saw this at almost half price I had to get it for them. The post and base went together very easily and securely; and the base is big, so it's very stable in use. My cats love it. It is big enough for them to chase each other up it, and the top is big enough for one to sit very comfortably (and reach down to bat the other one on the head). They are 4 1/2 now and don't play together as much as they used to, but they play with this Jumbo post just like they did with the smaller one when they were kittens. My little girl also loves to climb up and sit nose to nose with me for a fuss, in fact it's the first thing she does every morning and has become part of her morning routine. Thanks Zooplus for yet another brilliant item, I can't recommend it highly enough.
My two cats love this. They love climbing to the top of it. It's very sturdy and quite tall, so bigger cats are able to stretch up and have a really good scratch without it falling over.
I also initially had the problem that the bit the base screwed into came away from the tube, but I glued it back in and attached two shelf brackets to the base and into the post itself and now my three cats happily run up and down it with no problem.
Bought a while ago for my Bengal type rescue cat, he was perched on top within five minutes of assembly, and really loves it. I've just got a 13-week old Bengal kitten, tiny but fearless, he too loves the post. A bargain, still shows little signs of damage
I thought I was buying a slightly larger scratching post to the one I already had, but when the box arrived and I unpacked it, I almost cried with laughter. I'm 6' tall, and now my cat can climb the scratching post and look me in the eye. The cats think its great fun and since it's arrival they've kept their paws off the furniture (and the old scratching post). The only challenge now is which cat gets to sit on the top as there is only room for one!
The post is much higher than I expected which is great. It is tall and sturdy, so even bigger cats can have fun climbing high without any risk of post falling over. Definitely worth the money.
I have 11 cats and they all love it, but the material on top is coming away from where the rope is. but all in all love it. My sphinx use it the most though.
After my two burmese were ruining (using) my stair carpet for scratching, I bought this super large scratch post in desperation!! It is big, but the cats love it and soon were up the top and hanging off the sides! Love it, dont hesitate to purchase if you want to keep your stair carpet! Great value for money. It is sturdy too and balanced.
Both cats love this scratching post and can be seen scratching and climbing it throughout the day. Best of all, it is the only thing I've bought - and believe me I've spent a fortune! - that has actually stopped them ripping the carpet on the bottom step and destroying the entire wooden staircase! In comparison to other scratching posts this is bearing up very well indeed.
cat scratcher is an absolute bargain. its huge! my cats love climbing it. and showed interest in it as soon as it was displayed. amazing!
Omg ordered on sat pm and received by lunchtime today (tuesday) was very surprised(in a fab way) how big it was!! One very happy customer and 3 puurrrfectly happy cats!! Thanks zooplus
My four have always had scratching posts, but this is the first one tall enough to allow them to hang their full body length from, and they very obviously appreciate it, because they swarmed up the thing like Special Forces the minute it was put together. I bought the light grey - a very attractive item, took me all of one minute to assemble, and is very stable even with two full grown male Oriental Shorthairs hanging off it. Will definitely buy again when this one dies.
I bought this scratch post because a) I was waiting for a nice big pillar to be available and b) to stop my Coonie from destroying my yoga mats. As soon as I'd put the thing up, my cat was already on top of it. The second one was right on its tail but was quite disappointed when there was only space for one. My little ones go up and down the tree on the daily and love sitting on top and even my slightly older Persian gave climbing it a go. She's happy enough scratching for the moment (quite surprising in and of itself as she usually takes months to warm to new scratch posts!)
I have five rescue cats of indeterminate breed and various ages. They all, without question, love this scratching post - only my very oldest cat (13 when we got this post) occasionally goes back to her favourite armchair 'scratcher' and she can soon be persuaded to move to the new post again! The only boy loves to sit on the top (you come face to face with him when you enter the room) and they all enjoy a good stretching scratch. 'Scatty catty' fun of chasing up and down it means that I too am finding the sisal is gapping a bit, but not sufficiently to worry me yet. Tieing mouse toys near the top to dangle half way down, particularly if they are on elastic, adds to the fun had with this marvelous invention. It is so wonderful I couldn't bear to be without it now - my pets would be bereft - so I'm about to take advantage of the sale to buy another for the cupboard, just in case of fire or flood destroying the first one!
I'd bought 3 scratch posts prior to this and my cat ignored them all as none were tall enough for a good stretch. A friend suggested I have a look on zoo plus - so glad I did. My cat is average sized 4.5kg. She launches herself at this post and loves chasing her way to the top and back down again. It wobbles when she dives onto it but the wide base holds it firm. The base was larger than I anticipated (although I should have realised it would need to be given the height of the post!) this is the best purchase I have ever made for kitty.
Our 1 year old beast loves this scratch post. He can have a good old stretch, even though he can now reach the top and it's sturdy enough for him to perch his 7kg of body on top without out it wobbling or falling over. An absolute must for Maine Coons & other large breeds.
My 2 Ragdoll cats (4 years old) love this as they can stretch as they scratch and it's pretty sturdy, wobbles a bit as they're quite aggressive with it! My new Maine Coon kitten also loves it, jumping on it and climbing all the way to the top to sit lookout. It's well used so starting to fray but I'll definitely purchase another.
My two cats absolutely love this scratching post, they play fight around it and both love climbing to the top and sitting there like king of the castle. My only problem is that the sisal rope around it is now leaving gaps and I seem to end up with a lot of black fluff on the carpet surrounding the post and I have only had it about two months.
.... the sisal rope is very thin on the ground. Will have to get some new sisal and start again because there are large gaps in between each wrap. Cat loves it tho, and enjoys sitting on the top so for this reason, it's a good buy. I wonder if this review will get published? I'd already left a review which wasn't used and am beginning to suspect that they do not like to put up reviews that are less than glowing....
The sisal isn't wound tightly and it's a bit sparse. Had the post for a week and within a day of occasional scratching, there are big gaps and it's coming loose. However, our cat likes the size, likes climbing to the top and perching himself there so in that respect, it's a good buy. Will just have to replace the sisal myself.
I bought this for my 2 birmans who are to big for the normal size posts, despite having floor to ceiling cat trees my male decided to start scratching the walls when he stretches. This has cured the problem, he can stretch, scratch and chase his sister to the top. Even when they are both climbing it doesn't wobble and they have a combined weight of 11 kilos! Fantastic !!
I bought this after a family member told me to buy one as my sofa was getting ruined. It arrived after only three days after ordering in a large package and it was very easy to assemble. Only a screwdriver was needed. It is about 4ft so beware of the height. I knew it was going to be this big but friends are shocked. The base is very strong so it can take the weight of the post. I absolutely love it! The plush material on the scratching post at the bottom is so soft that I couldn't believe the product was only £25! Most things I buy for my pet don't really go with my decor but the lovely light grey really does. My indoor cat is almost two years old so I was worried she wouldn't take to it. She was a bit scared of it at first but I coaxed her by putting little 'Dreamies' treats in the scratching post grooves.A few hours later she was climbing all over it and doing acrobatics! My sofa hasn't been touched since! Final comment about this post: It helps my indoor cat to burn her energy at night time. My cat sleeps all day so at night she's always restless and wants to play while I want to sleep. I have had frequent night attacks from my cat by playing with my ankles. Since, I purchased the post, I have had hardly anything. A* Zooplus!
We got this as our 5 month old Maine Coon was becoming too long for our average cats scratch posts. As soon as it was out the box and put together he was straight to the top having a clean. Not only was it his scratch post it was his climbing frame to.
It's a wonderful tree, nice and tall and robust for even the chubbiest of BSH's, of which I have 4 lol. Only down side it that the sisal very quickly headed south leaving gaps all up the tree exposing the cardboard. I'm a neat freak and this is annoying me now. But given the very reasonable price I may well just buy another.
Got this scratch post as an early christmas present for my two cats, Lennox and Levi. They both absolutely love it! It's well made and looks fab - the colours even go with the decor in my living room! A great purchase! Just noticed it's been lowered in price yet again, absolute bargain - for the quality, I would have been expected to pay over the odds for this! Have recommended it to all of my cat lover friends (who I believe have already put in orders!)
After we brought home our gorgeous RSCPCA rescue cat, she was scratching and shredding everything in sight, including my new sofa and my antique dining room chairs. Five minutes after I screwed the scratching post to its base and stood it up, our cat started scratching it without any encouragement from us, and then used it four times in the next hour. Now when she's running around the house, she loves hurling herself at the scratching post and climbing it as if it were a tree trunk (we actually find this very entertaining). I dangle a toy at the top and she climbs all the way up and sits there. I positioned it near the dining room chairs and she has stopped scratching them (hooray!). I often find her happily stretching and scratching against the scratching post. It's a much wider and taller scratching post than the standard ones, so check the dimensions before ordering it. But it actually looks attractive and can fit in a corner. I'm very grateful to Zooplus for saving my chairs and my new sofa and making my cat so happy!
Excellent product, my cat loves it, would definitely recommend. Swift and speedy delivery, easy to assemble... If your cat loves to stretch buy this you won't be disappointed.
It's huge! I'd expect a price tag of around £80 in the pet shops for an item like this so needless to say I'm very impressed indeed.
Very pleased with this massive post bought about 6 months ago. For the first day, he wasn't sure about it (he was only a kitten then), but soon got braver and he absolutely loves it. He plays on it, sits on it and sometimes sleeps on the carpeted base. It's still in good condition, despite a lot of use, but if it ever falls apart, I'll be buying another one the same.
Bought this over a year ago and its been great. My one cat is too tall for the little scratching post and loves to stretch up walls with his claws. My walls are hardly touched now as he using the post. The littler cat loves to sit on top and survey the room. Would recommend to anybody
Bought this for my 5 cats I was amazed at how big it was its so good all my cats use it and the one who used to stretch up at the walls no longer does this as he now has this amazing tall scratch post!
My 5 months old is using it all the time for climbing and scratching,or just sitting on top of it and observing.Very good quality, simple to assemble and not too heavy.
Within seconds of taking it out of the box, both cats were scratching on it (it was still horizontal at this point!) My cats are quite large (bengals, around 6kg each) but haven't managed to knock it over, even with both of them scratching on the same side. The younger one will dart to the top and play "king of the castle" without any risk of a wobble. (her Mum is way too sensible to do this, but if she wasn't such a lazy thing, I'm sure it would take it)
My two large cats love this, it encourages them to have a good old stretch and since buying it they have left my furnishings alone. Only bad fault is the base, it is very flimsy and within one month of purchase their claws had ripped it to bits which is the only downside.
I bought this as my kitten loves door frames a bit too much! I just assembled this post and my Exotic Shorthair kitten was immediately taken with it. He loves to climb to the top and then scale his way down coming round the post. Its as tall as my 5yr old son! Great Purchase!
Could'nt believe the size of the parcel,i was sure you must have sent me the wrong item, this Scratching Post is HUGE,my ginger boy loves it as he likes to stretch out fully,my little girl Treacle loves the box,a winner all round. Highly recommended. :)
Purchased this cat scratcher almost a year ago and it is still going strong. My kittens used the scratcher from 6 weeks old climbing and jumping on it and now as fully grown cats they still play on it every day either chasing each other up it on sitting proud on the top. Have recommended it to lots of friends after being recommended by a friend also. I am also a cat fosterer for my local charity so the number of cats that can be hanging off it at one time is hilarious and it never falls over, think it would be pretty much impossible to make this cat stand fall over. Absolute bargain too :)
This is one of the best items I've bought for my 2 boys, they absolutley love it. It is HUGE and very sturdy, it takes the weight of my biggest boy who is 6.5kg, they both love running up it and sitting on the top and giving it a good scratch, it's great for that long stretch too. It's purrfect for any sized kitty. My boys are very happy with it and so am I :-)
I couldn't quite believe the size of this scratching post when I opened it. It really is huge. Most scratch posts advertised as large don't even allow cats to stretch out, where as my indoor cats can stretch up this one, climb it, hang off it and even sit on top! Even the posts on their extra large cat tree don't allow them to have a good stretch out... so thank you, this is perfect. It took a couple of minutes to construct and they love the box, as usual.
This scratch post is massive. I have 6 cats and my giant boy and 2 little boy kittens are hanging off it as we type. The box it came in is gigantic and fortunately I have a large living room as I have not been able to throw it away as yet due to my cats loving that even more than the post!!!.. This isnt just tall but the actual post is probably about 3 times wider than the average post which was a nice surprise when it came. Very easy to assemble just pop the pole on its end and screw the base on the top. Then turn it right way up. People have said that it doesnt last very long but in all honesty none of them do if the cats use them to play on all the time like mine do. When this one goes I will definitely replace it with the same thing. The cost of it is amazing compared to a much smaller one you can get elsewhere. Treat your kitty kat, they deserve it!!!
Yes its big a lot bigger in height and width than I expected. My 2 use it for scratching as they can get a really big stretch. They also love to hug it and run up it and its their main way of reaching their beds on the top of a high set of drawers. They love sitting on the top to be fussed as they are chest high to us, and everyone finds it easier than bending down to them. If you have the space they are great and good value for money.
My two Bengals love this, they use it to climb, bounce off it and sit on top. Great success. However, I noticed that after only a week of use, the cord has started separating. There is only one layer so by the cats hanging off it, the cord moves exposing bare column and I started noticing when they jump on it now it has separated, they don't get a good grip. I have a palm tree pole from zooplus which never had the same problem and they abuse it as much. I think I will try to buy some cord and apply another layer by myself once it gets ruined. If they did this, this pole would be purrrfect
My cat loves this post. He is a large build cat and most other cat posts are too short for him to have a good stretch. A lot of products say they are suitable for large cats when they are not, so I was amazed and over the moon when I received this. He also loved the large box it arrived in which was an added bonus! Fantastic price......what a bargain!
Much bigger than I expected - although I was looking for something they could really stretch up on. Already the most popular scratch post in the house (I've got several). The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because the sisal rope is a little bit thinner than I'd like and I suspect my Siamese boys will get through it a bit quicker. In the meantime they love it and at such a great price it'll be worth replacing when it wears out.
i had i shock at how big it was going to be ,but my cats love it ,and the box it came in lol
very quick to put together. cat just sat staring at it - looked like he was thinking 'what the hell am i supposed to do with that' must admit i was shocked at the size (didnt read the measurements). one of my cats is very long body and legs, once he decided this was his and he could scratch it as much as he liked he wouldnt leave it alone. he now has his very own gym equipment where he can stretch and climb without it falling over. he has broken 2 previous smaller scratch posts due to putting too much presure on it. this one looks like its going to last, is light weight but has a good base so hasnt fallen over yet. great quality for the price.
i was shocked at just how big this was when it arrived. i have two maine coons and a DSH. they all love this and is a big part of their play time. looks great in living room too. it doesnt fall over like other tall scratchers have in the past even with my maine coons running up and down it. recommended :-)
This is a fantastic chunky scratching post. We have two large ragdoll cats and they can scratch & stretch fully with some room to spare at the top. They love it so much we came back and bought a second one!
The XXL Jumbo Scratching Post is fantastic. My Bengal, Rajah, couldn't wait to get his claws into it! He is a big cat, so there is plenty of room on it to stretch! His 2 confedarates, Misti and Suzi (moggies) agreed! So they have 2 good sized scratching posts, this one and the large one too, so we have 3 very happy cats!
One of my cats in particular love this tree because it is so tall he can finally stretch all the way up on it unlike other trees we have had. It was very easy to put together and doesnt take up much space.
Arrived 10 minutes ago, assembled in seconds (2 bolts to attach base to top post) 12 week old kittens were straight to it. Now they are in hyper mode, racing around the room and launching themselves onto the post in a race to see who can get to the top first! Not sure if it's going to get used for scratching but it's doing a good job of being a tree at the moment. My 5 year old cat is not interested in it one bit but it's not been here long and the kittens dominate it so she may use it later. As for build quality it's lightweight but with the base being so large it's not moved a mm even with the kittens launching at it. The sisal is thin compared to others I've got and so is the fabric which my kittens have already started chewing. Will it last long? Who knows, but my cats will have a really good time while it does. I am happy with it and so are the cats. If the sisal does wear out its cheap enough to buy to recover. Buy this if you get the chance especially if you have kittens, they will love it.
My cat was scratching the wall paper she had a scratching post but this has stopped her now with two posts she has different areas this one is her fav she likes to climb up full marks
My two 14 months old boys absolutely loved the scratch post, they fight (playfully) for who gets to use it. This is the tallest scratch post I have seen on the market really, the cat can fully stretch standing on his hind legs, and at a very reasonable price. Well done zooplus!
I bought the light grey post at the £18.99 sale price. It is great very tall with a really thick post. I had a 80cm post before which had a thin post my cats broke it after about 8 months. I can't see them breaking this post. It is very well made and looks much more expensive. My cats played on it as soon as I put it together. They loved it right away. Great buy I am really pleased. It is big so you will need a nice quite corner to pop it into.
Wow! When I saw the box I wondered if it had a tree trunk in it. This is the biggest scratch post I've ever seen! Considering its size and lightness in weight it seems fairly sturdy. My 2 siamese cats were on to it straight away. The only one thing I would like to mention is the same as another reviewer pointed out regarding the sisal rope. It's thinner than on my previous scratch post so not sure how much wear it will withstand in comparison. Will have to see and do a follow up review. Other than that it's a great buy and if my cats are happy then so am I :-)
Absolutely love this! I couldn't believe how big it was, the value for money is amazing. I got this for my girl's first birthday and she is completely in her element! :-)
The post is secured to the base by two bolts. On delivery, one of these would not connect. I thought I could fix it and zooplus gave me a discount as an alternative to returning it. While doing repairs I dumped 10lbs or so of dry sand into the shaft and put 6 self-tapping wood screws though the base. The result is ultra-rigid and stable even under the ministrations of 2 Siberian Forest Cats. 4 star as delivered, 5 as modded and 5 stars to ZP customer service for giving me a discount rather than insisting on return & replace.
I have 3 cats, and they all use it, they like to climb up to the top and sit and look out the window's. It is also really sturdy, it has an advantage for the cats to really stretch out, and/or climb up and get all 4 paws dug in.
My two Norwegian Forest cats love this post, they can really go at it with out it falling over, wish I had bought this one from the start!
This product is great value. I was worried for the price what the quality would be like, but I was pleasently surprised! We have two Ragdoll cats and it allows them to stretch out and they love to jump to the top and sit on watch from up high. Putting it next to the cat tree gives them the extra part they needed for stretching out and stops them wanting to stretch on door frames
They really do love it
Surprisingly good for the price. If the sisal rope had been thicker, I would have given this 5 stars, but thats nitpicking. The base is quite large, which gives it its stability, however it is worth spending some time deciding where to put it! Value for money I would say
